Most of these aren’t real wood and would be very hard to paint effectively (veneer is a bitch to get paint to stick to without uber toxic BIN primer). I’d go with the Hemnes if you want to paint because it is actual wood and will respond the best to the sanding/paint sticking to it. It also has the most storage, which will be great as the baby ages!

@ScottishMrs:  getting a dresser is 100% a Better idea IMO. Much more versatile. I vote for the Hennes dresser…plus it has WAY more storage

I have a Hemnes dresser and it’s a pain when you move (very difficult to take apart and it doesn’t ever feel sturdy).

@ScottishMrs:  I have a narrower version of that Hemnes, which I’ve had for several years, and I loooove it! When we moved into our new house a few months ago, we actually got all new furniture for our master bedroom, so I don’t use my Hemes anymore. However, we kept it and are planning to use it as a dresser/changing table combo for our babe on the way. It’s the perfect height!

Unlike PP, I do not feel like my Hemnes is unsturdy. Considering the quality of most Ikea furniture, I’ve actually been really, really impressed by this piece. That said, my husband had the tall, narrow version of it, and he busted through the drawer bottoms because he over-stuffed them with WAY too many clothes. So the bottoms of all the drawers ended up falling out one by one, and we had to get rid of it. But, the overall structure of his remained in great shape, and mine has held up in every way and is still in perfect condition seven years later.

Dresser #2 and crib #1! They’re both white (so no painting), they have complementing shapes (curvy details) and dresser #2 looks the most convienent for a changing table! (My siblings had a dresser like that)

I actually love Dresser 1 though that doesn’t seem like a popular opinion! I’m obsessed with blue, and I think the little open shelves could be very cute, just to hold something decorative like a stuffed animal, or something practical like diapers until the LO is mobile and can grab them out, haha.

I LOVE white for a new baby, so I chose dresser #2 and crib #1.  I think the shape of dresser #1 is probably more useful though.  Congrats!!
