@MrsOats:  I love Zachary!! My husband and son are named Nathaniel. People come up with the dumdest nicknames for them like (Nate Dog) (Nasty Nate- from half baked)  (Nat) Ugh we hate them all it is usually stangers who do it!!!! Like really hate the nicknames

Depends mostly on the family name 🙂 … For example: Jesse won’t go so well if your surname is Messi (as in the footballer)

On the other hand, I love Nathan… Solid name…

I would have been Zachary had I been a boy, and that’s left me with a fondness for the name in general. I vote Zachary or Nathan (though I prefer Nathaniel).

But yes, it depends on what your surname is? What is the first letter or sound?

@Amandarhill: that’s surprising, the only Nathan I know got the nickname Nate the Great.

@MrsOats:  I agree that your surname does play a part in what the best shouldn’t the list is, but my vote is for Zachary.

Jacob has been the #1 name in the US for a few years recently. All of these are clearly very traditional and timeless, but there is more of a chance that he would be Jacob #3 in his class. For that reason I would vote for one of the other 3.

And we all wish that we had Jesse’s girl 😉

I love both Nathan and Zachary but i voted Nathan since it has less syllables and sounds “smoother”.

@MrsOats:  I know NEITHER of these are on your list, but my vote would be for Ari or Micah 🙂

I’m actually a big fan of Jesse. And I hardly ever hear it!

Definitely Jacob… classic, and unlikely to get him beaten up at school for having a “weird” name!

I love the name Jacob. I also love the names Kyle or David for a Jewish baby boy.
