Yesterday my SO shined his shoes, put on his best suit and took me ring shopping! He said “meet me at Tiffanys” and I nearly swooned.
I like 3 quite different styles and am having trouble deciding. SO likes them all so will be happy with whichever one I choose. I’d love your opinions!
Ring 1 – the Harry Winston cushion micropave ring. http://harrywinston.com/Product.aspx?alias=001amicropavring¤t=diamond-rings§ion=engagement
We can’t afford the real thing but could have something similar made up. I love the thin band and the halo. However I’ve heard it doesn’t sit well with a wedding band. Any experiences/pics of this ring with wedding band?
Ring 2 – the Tiffany Novo. http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?groupsku=GRP10015
i love this ring! I love the little gap between the e-ring and wedding band. However, it was super sparkly – SO thought a little too sparkly! The bands look just a little too think on my small hands and of course Tiffany can’t make them any thinner. What do you think? I’m quite petite and not sure if all that ‘bling’ really suits me.
Ring 3 – the “split wedder.” I love, love, love this look. You put two super thin, delicate, grain set diamond wedding bands on either side of the e-ring. It’s not expensive and it looks gorgeous, really pretty and delicate. The question is what e-ring to have in the middle! I think a plain band on the e-ring looks best with the split wedders. Any suggestions for shape? I tried round 1 ct solitaire which almost looked too big with this look, a 0.6 ct princess, a cushion…I like them all. I could even have a cushion halo setting on a plain band Any suggestions? I can’t find many pics on google of the split wedder but have tried to upload one that was on SMP a while ago.
Any advice much appreciated! I’m not sure if the Winston will look good with a wedding band, not sure if the Novo will look too blingy (anyone with the Novo/similar, what do you think?) and not sure if i’ll get sick of the split wedder and regret not getting just one wedding band.

beautiful rings! I think that ring 1 would look BEAUTIFUL with the split wedder… the micropave halo would really suit that look in my opinion!

I like the novo. You have to remember that they have special lights in those stores so they look REALLY sparkly! When we went ring shopping I had to shield the ring from all the pretty lights so I could see what it really looks like lol

Ugh! I can only pick one?! I love the first two! My ring is similar to the Tiffany Novo and I will be getting a band that matches! I personally love the look of them! Tons of sparkles! Good luck and def post a pic when you get your ering:)

Is there a such thing as too much bling?

First off, yes, they do have special lights in some stores so that the ring looks super sparkly. I notice that my ring gets super shiny when I’m in stores that have those pot-lights (recessed lights). That’s nothing bad about that! It simply comes down to the diamond quality, so don’t worry about that.
I think the main question for you is if you want the micropave diamonds around your center solitaire or not. Both the Harry Winston and split wedder that his effect, or if you just want diamonds in the band.
I think the split wedder is to much, but that’s a personal opinion. All those bands distract me from the real beauty that is the solitaire. So my pick is the Tiffany Novo! Just like the Harry Winston, get it custom made instead. You can pick an equally sparkly diamond and not have to pay for the name.

i LOVE all of them, esp the first two, the tiffany novo is actually the only ring i scoped out before we were engaged. Fiance designed my ring and i love it… but i think the novo is simple sophistication! 😉

I’m biased toward the cushion halo. I had a halo ring (pear shaped) custom made and my wedding band sits flush under it. If you’re going for a custom halo cushion, that’s definitely possible.
Mine was modeled off this: http://www.dimendscaasi.com/build/step1.asp?prodID=1-D2
If you make the band sufficiently deep (like 2mm), as it is in the one in the picture, before the basket prongs attach above that, you can fit a band underneath no problem. And custom was surprisingly affordable.

I like the Novo, thats the look I told my Fiance to go for

I like the Novo, that was the lok I asked my Fiance for

I like the Novo. Good luck on picking out your ring!

The Novo is timeless, while the cushion halo is trendy, to me. Depends on what your preferences are as far as that goes. I love the look of two bands as well! Never heard of the term “split-wedder” though! 🙂

Thanks everyone! I love the pics of the Novo style rings, it’s great to see you can have one custom made to suit. @LGenz, do you know if the band of your ring thinner than the band on the Tiffany Novo? That might work well for me as I love thin bands.
I think ‘split wedder’ is an Australian term. It’s quite a popular look here and quite a few of my friends have it. My mother doesn’t like it as she’s superstitious about not having just one ring to be married with in the ceremony.
Good point about the lights in Tiffanys! My SO was surprised by how sparkly diamonds are! He doesn’t want one that is “too sparkly” so I have to try to explain to him that sparkle is what makes diamonds beautiful. The first Novo I tried in Tiffanys was absolutely stunning – 1ct but a really high quality diamond, so it was $30,000(!!!) but my gosh it was like a rainbow. I could see the difference between that diamond and other diamonds with my naked eye.

The Novo rocks!
Too sparkly? IMO, no such thing! But it is all about what you like

Oh, and if I could offer you some advice? Take your photos to a private jeweler. STores have a VERY high overhead that they need to make up for, and you get to pay for that with your purchase. I found rings that I love then brought photos to a jeweler that works out of his home. I got TWICE the size ring, and much higher quality stones, than I thought we could afford. No overhead= better ring for you!
