Hi bees! I have been looking at rings forEVER online and my BF just recently asked me if I would like to choose my own ring! EEEKKKK! A proposal is still a few months off so I have some time to leisurely decide on a setting for the center stone that I chose.
I haven’t ordered it yet but I think I will be getting a 9-10mm (I know it’s huge) cushion moissanite. I have seen 3 ct moissys in real life in jewelery stores and I fell in love. I am choosing a moissy center stone because of the sparkle, impact, and cost. I also want a really large center stone and obviously can’t afford a 3-4 ct diamond haha. I know I should probably order my stone first, but I really can’t wait…
So help me choose a setting for my moissy!
My top contender is a thin micropave band from a place called KobeMark in NYC with an amazing basket-set center that I’ll put my future initials on which I am absolutely in love with. I found it about a year ago and can’t get it out of my head
The second setting I recently found online also but it has an amazing halo and is literally covered in diamonds. I drool over it every time I watch the video lol. For some reason I feel like the moissy will look better with a halo? Is that weird? Maybe it’s because the stone shown in the setting is the exact size MOISSY that I want in my ring so it’s easier to visualize. The downside to this setting is price. I’m not sure how much it is exactly but the other settings on the Simone & Son website are well over $3,000 yikes!
ORRRR… Do I throw out my cushion obsession and go for an OEC Moissy in a vintage-inspired setting??? I love the faceting on the OEC (more than the cushion) but I guess I never envisioned a round stone on my finger. This setting is to die for.
UGH Why can’t I decide? I feel like I love them all equally. Let me know what you guys think- and feel free to share your rings- I LOVE THEM ALL!

FWIW, I’ve had both a cushion and an OEC moissy. I love the OEC so much more! The sparkle is way different, but in a really good way. The 9-10mm OECs are sooooo yummy.
I never pictured myself with a round either, but mine is set in a soft square (cushion) halo. It has 4 claw prongs on the center stone that square it off quite a bit. If you get an OEC in the right setting it really can almost look like a vintage cushion. Jcent’s settings come to mind with her barely pinks.
A setting similar to this would look nice with any OEC! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS4pegakj5s

@FutureDrAtkins: I haven’t seen an OEC moissy in person. I loved the cushion so much I thought I shouldn’t tempt myself but since I’ll be wearing it forever I suppose I should order some and compare them side by side. Your rings and Mrs. Skeleton Key’s were the first to catch my eye on the bee! Lovely. I am already planning to order from Schubach’s!

@kpcascio: Oh my! That third ring must be a Single Stone masterpiece, right? Their settings are to die for!
I voted that one, obv 🙂
I have a 3ct OEC amora moissanite & loveee it! The OEC cut is so much crisper and more beautiful (IMO) than the traditional brilliant cuts in moissy (I used to have a 3ct RB).
Here’s a few pics of my ring
(it’s dirty in the first pic, sorry about that!)
(btw, the first ring you posted looks a lot like Jewel’s by Erica Grace’s “Sophie Solitaire” which I personally like a little more)

Get the one you can’t get out of your head for a year.

All three of those settings are gorgeous. I voted for the second one.

I love the first one, especially for that large of a stone.

I’m a fan of chic simplicity so I would go for #1.

@kpcascio: #1 definitely!!!!

I love my mossy, #3 because I wanted an OEC but didn’t go with it. I would say #2 if you had smaller hands since it might be too wide for my taste. I have a 2ctw round on a size 4.75 finger so I do like big too!

Thanks for all of your replies! I have ordered two 9mm cushions in to look at (one unenhanced and one Forever Brilliant) They should be in on New Year’s Eve, so since we were apart for Christmas, my BF is taking me to look at them as a New Year’s gift! I am so excited!
As for the setting, if I end up falling in love with the cushions again, I think I will be going with setting #1! If for some reason I don’t like the cushion in that size, I will probably check out OEC’s somewhere else, since the jeweler I’m ordering from can’t get those… idk why. And then maybe I’ll end up with some new options! Either way, I’ll post pictures of the moissy’s in a new thread since I can never find any with large carat weights of cushions…I can’t wait until Tuesday!

Love the OEC– #3. Where did you find that setting? I’m absolutely obsessed with vintage inspired rings.
