I've said it a thousand times on here but I've been going INSANE trying to pick between 2 gowns that I LOVE. I went again this weekend with my mother and we're both undecided. They're both Alvina Valenta & I can buy either sample in a bridal salon near me so they're MUCH cheaper than the usual price (both samples the store quoted charging me less than 1/2 the orig. price so price doesn't make the decision any easier).

I've tried on both dresses a jillion times - I've been holding off on posting this because I can NOT get a picture of me in the dresses - the salon doesn't allow it. I'm planning on going to another salon further away & maybe I can try to sneak pics but for right now, this is all I've got.

Dress #1 - Alvina #9860Holy Cow does this dress make me look skinny!! It looks awesome on - it's def. made to be worn by a woman with curves. Ya see the lace detail on the tush there - it slims your butt so it looks teeny (amaaazzziinnng). It's not too sexy and the lace at the top hides that little flab at the under-arm/sideboob area that comes with me in a strapless dress.  It's also very light & won't weigh me down. It's more trumpet shaped than A-line though so it's less of a traditional bridal gown. Help me choose ladies! : wedding 9860

Dress #2 - Alvina #9801: A little bigger than dress #1 because it's a fuller skirt but I feel more like a "bride" in it because it's more of an A-line. I love the detail at the neckline/bust, the lace trim at the waist and this dress looks better with a bustle than #1 (IMO). The model in the picture has the tea-stained lace & sash where the dress I'd buy is all Ivory.

Help me choose ladies! : wedding 9801

Help Bees!! They're both classic dresses, that I love (I love the buttons down the back on both) but I'm losing my biscuits trying to figure out which one I should go with.  I thought about getting both, but I'm just not a 2-dress bride.

I absolutely LOVE that first dress! Those buttons are to die for. I love the lace detailing on the toosh. Man, I wish I had been able to try on that dress when I was looking! :)

I think that if the first one does as magical-figure-things as you say it does, 100% go with that one. I think it's a prettier dress, and has an awesome shape.

Love the first one! It's more interesting of a line to me, and less overwhelming but still gorgeous.

They are both gorgeous!! Personally, I prefer the second dress (what i love most though is the color lace and sash which you were planning to change). But it sounds like the first dress would be very flattering on you. You can't go wrong with either dress.

I don't know, I have a trumpet and part me of is still stuck on an A-line/ballgown silhouette because of that "feel more like a bride" thing. If it's going to nag at you afterwards like it is at me, I'd say go for #2. However #1 is beautiful and I've been noticing trumpet/mermaid seem to be the most preferred silhouettes by brides here, so it comes down to how you feel about it.

Can you maybe talk the store into taking pics if you put a deposit down, to be applied to either? I can always decide better when I have photos in front of me to compare.

First dress all the way!  Funny, 'cause when I first went dress shopping I had it in my mind that I should get A-line because I'm "hippy."  However, I ended up witha  trumpet dress and couldn't be happier!

WHOA! I wasn't expecting it to be overwhelming in favor for one of the dresses. Thanks SOOOO much for the input ladies!!!

@ meliss - that's exactly my problem! I love #1 too!! Although, like I said I get that "OMG I'm a bride!" feeling when I'm wearing #2 & I don't get it with the 1st dress - it's hard to beat that feeling.

I just made an appt at a salon near me to go next Mon when I have the day off. I'm bringing my MOH & she'll be in charge of the stealth & sneaking pictures.

I love dress number 1!  But I would def like to see pictures on you so we could see for sure which will looke best.  I agree with a PP who said if you feel more bridal in the second dress and you think it's going to bug you, then you should get that one.

My sympathies to a fellow bride torn between two dresses, it was tough for me until I realized I was being silly and went with what felt right. I also like the first one, it sounds like you really love the way it looks on you, and you can never underestimate how valuable it is to feel like you look fabulous on your wedding day. Confidence is a mood-booster in the most stressful of circumstances.

Seeing as the first one is one of my dream dresses, I vote that one! And of course it sounds like it really flatters your figure.

I think the first one. You talk about how you look and feel in the description of that dress. In the other one, you just describe it. To me, it sounds like the first one makes you feel amazing and that's more important than looking "more like a bride".

Dress number 2! You said everything you need to know: You FEEL like a bride in dress 2! When I was deciding between two dresses, I polled an online wedding community, and they voted overwhelmingly in favor of the one that my mom also liked, the one that everyone at the salon gushed about. So I went with it, even though I could picture myself getting married in the other one. I knew I made a mistake before I was even home from the shop, and the feeling has intensified as time has passed. Learn from my mistake! I now have the hassle of selling my first dress (but the fun of finding another one haha).

It really is about how you feel in them - don't forget to try on both with as many accessories as you plan to wear on your big day to see how you truly feel in both dresses.

I vote for #2, because I know exactly what you're feeling!  Lots of friends and family loved me in a dress that I didn't feel like a bride in, nor after seeing photos of myself did I love it - but I went with the one that I got the bride feeling, loved the bustle and the photos.

Make sure you like the way you look in photos before making a choice - that could be a deciding factor - it was for me a couple of times.  My Aunt taught me that "it's all about the bustle," and I ruled out a couple of dresses because that played over and over in my head.

Good luck, can't wait to see what you choose.

I think the first one is the nicer dress. And if it does all those things you said it does to your body then I'd definitely go with it! You want to look amazing on your wedding day so I'd go with the dress that made me feel amazing.

    Also,

FYI strumpet is not a very nice word to call a woman so make sure you wear a trumpet dress and not a strumpet dress.

I am probably the only one that laughed at this. sorry for being a big nerd.
