So this question will take a little imagination and I tried my best to make is clear with the pics. Our wedding colors are black and white and I've found a few options for favors. I am pretty sure I will be doubling the favors with escort cards.

White rock candy(imagine a gorgeous satin black bow to hold the plastic on)

For the baklava we would make it ourselves and put them in little white favor boxes with black bows.

In case you haven't gotten the theme, something WILL have black bows on it! LOL

**edit: Will anyone even WANT candy?**

The story behind the baklava is that FI and I have been making it for parties, etc over the last few years. The reason I think it might be cool to do is because we really make it as a TEAM. He gets the phyllo dough ready and lays it down, while I quickly spread the melted butter on top and sprinkle it with nuts while he gets the next piece ready. We always have such a good time making it.

The other thing is that you can make the baklava like a week ahead of time so we wouldn't be making it like the night before or anything.

I love baklava (and make a pretty mean one), but I'm worried about you guys baking your heads off in the day or two before the wedding. You're going to have other things on your plate and you might be setting yourself up for a lot of stress and potential disaster. I really like the big long swirly stick. Question though, what does it taste like?? I loves me some candy, but it's gotta taste good! Oh and one other thought, does it leave your mouth/lips black? Because that could make for some funny looking photos for the guests ;)

Have you thought about strawberry tuxedos?

    You had me at baklava.

Especially because you and FI make it together.

    LOVE baklava.

    LOOOOVE baklava!

Make sure you gather a support army to help with the baking though!  I like that it's personal and that it's something people would associate with you and FI.

baklava is good especially since they probably always ask you guys to take it to parties.. that would be cute

Love the baklava idea!  I think the guest will appreciate it and since you can make it a week before it doesn't sounds like it will be too much of a hassle to make it.

I would stay away from anything that has black coloring in it! there is a huuuge chance it will turn everyone's teeth black when they eat it. Mmmm baklava.

In pastry school, baklava gave me nightmares. I think your reason for wanting to make it as cool, but as someone who has made it several times, I would say save your sanity and go with the candy.

I say baklava, but only if you feel confident and organised so you won't be stressed out right before the wedding. I don't like those lollies with the black colouring because they make my mouth all black.
