The ruffles are so cute and original! My second vote would be for the rustic stripe one. So pretty!
The frilly ruffly cake reminds me of a country-type of wedding. Plus it gives it a girly vibe as well, and it's something different! I like that one the most! :]
Why don't you do the 3 cakes frosted in different styles? I'm partial to the ruffle one and the, er, one that looks like a bunch of pancakes stacked up =]
I adore the ruffle cake. But I think the idea of three different cakes could be really nice. I would go with the ruffles, the stripes, and the basket weave, if you want to go in that direction. Otherwise, I would do the ruffles in three slightly different shades of lavender.
I like all of them, but I was drawn to the 4th picture, the traditonal basket weave, after reading your description of your wedding.
Definitely the ruffles! I've never seen a cake like that before.
I love the wicker basket one. Would probably require a very talented baker though because I can imagine a bad one ending up on CakeWrecks.
@MissAsB so true! our baker is going to do a trial run soon of the design i present to him, so hopefully if it's headed in the CakeWrecks direction i can stop it before the wedding! haha.
@ MissAsB: I was thinking the same thing, these are all really gorgeous, rather delicate cakes. There can't be a ton of people who have this skill. Personally, I decided to forgo the traditional cake and replace it with a dessert bar because no one in the rural area I'm getting married in had the skill to execute the kinds of things I was interested in.
@monitajb i totally feel the same way, that they are pretty intricate. our baker, although he is a professional teacher, is a well trained pastry chef that does it for the love, not the money. i believe that if he can't do one of these, he will let us know, for sure. i don't think they're all as hard as they look, though. here's a tutorial for the circle one. i figured if it had a secret to it's beauty, they all probably do. i love the ruffles one the most, but think it's too girly to have all 3 cakes like that and would probably be very hard to do.
I love the ruffles, but I think if you're doing a rustic themed wedding, the traditional basket weave would be my pick for sure.
But just pick what you love the best! The cake is going to get devoured anyway :)
I say mix it up.. I like top right, middle left, and bottom right...
I like the wicker, but I picked the circles cause it reminds me of the wedding rings quilt pattern. Which would definitely be rustic. They're all cute!
I LOVE the Ruffles. I have never seen that before and think that it looks darling!

Wedding Details: Casual, Rustic, Folksy Wedding. Lavender & Chocolate Brown colors. Lots of burlap, twine, wildflowers and mason jars.
Cake Details: 3 9in round, 3-layer cakes. 1 yellow cake with chocolate frosting, 1 carrot cake with cream cheese frosting & 1 baker's choice flavored cake with lavender colored frosting.
Cake Stands: 3 Rustic, wooden, DIY pedestals that vary in height.
I can't decide which of these icing design I love more! The ruffles is a beautiful, but I'm afraid 3 cakes with ruffles might be overkill! The cakes will be iced monochramitcally, so disregard the white on green look of the wicker weave, as ours would be monochromatic (chocolate on chocolate, etc).
Which one do you like the best and/or think will fit my theme most?? Or should I pick three favorites??
