Help! I can’t decide!! Please vote for one of the 5 images. I thought I wanted a halo, but I am waivering, and then my mom said she thinks that the halo takes away from the center diamond. I value her opinion a lot, but I like the halo and so do my friends. But nonetheless, I find myself second guessing. I am worried that the halo is too trendy and perhaps I won’t like it anymore in 10 years or so.
Option 5 I have in my possession now. It is definitely a great value, but I find myself wishing the diamond was a bit bigger. It was an online only so we had to order it to be able to see it. We can return it if we want to. I also am extremely budget conscious and want to be considerate of my boyfriend’s budget, but I don’t want to shortchange myself on something that I will hopefully be wearing forever!
Option 1: Palladium, Cathedral diamond set w/ .77 carat round, $2,639:
Option 2: Palladium, Diamond band set with .77 carat round, $2,688:
Option 3: 14K White Gold, 1 Carat Round Solitaire, $1,800:
Option 4: Palladium, Halo engagement ring with diamond band and .7 round center, $2,445:
Option 5: 14K White Gold, Halo bridal set, .333 round center, $1,800:

I picked 4! But 3 is a close second.

@Lrroma181986: It’s hard to choose because they’re all so different, and ultimately you need to pick the one that you are most drawn to. (I believe that halos will go out of style, but that doesn’t mean you will necessarily stop loving your ring, and if you do, you can upgrade!) If budget is an issue, have you considered moissanite? You can find all 5 of these rings on MoissCo.

Here’s what option 5 looks like on my finger. I like it but I wish it were bigger. It also comes from Zales, who I have heard some not so great things about. Because this ring is 14goethite gold, it will require some maintenance which will require dealing with zales at some point. loft this reason I like the idea of palladium. But the zales ring is super budget friendly! Should I suk it up and be happy?

No doubt, Option 1. It’s gorgeous and timeless!

I picked #1… I just love it. Very pretty. Halos are pretty, but to me it seems everyone has one these days. #1 I haven’t seen yet. Very nice.. You can’t go wrong with any of them really.

They are all very pretty but my favorite is #1. Good Luck.

I love the simplicity of #2. #1 is my second favorite.

I really like #4! I thinkt that it gives you that halo effect, without completely outdoing your center stone. As a solitaire gal (which I do love), I think that in my next life..I’d pick something like that as my engagment ring 🙂

Boyfriend is doing his best to be patient and understanding, but he thinks we should keep option number 5. It is without a doubt the most cost effective, but I worry that the halo is proportionally too big for the diamond and inadvertently overpowers the center diamond. I want to love this so bad. He keeps saying we can upgrade later, but I am sentimental and like the idea of having the same one forever. I am hoping that once it is on my finger all the time, I will be at peace with it. Boyfriend is correct in that it seems silly to spend an additional $700 just for a bigger diamond, and then that wouldn’t even include the wedding band. Thoughts?

@Lrroma181986: ooh, I just saw the pic of the ring on your hand. I originally voted for #1 (I’m a sucker for a cathedral setting), but now that I’ve seen the photo I think the ring you have is *gorgeous.* I’d keep it!!!!!

There’s so much more to picking a diamond than size. I worry about the price of that 1 carat… there’s no such thing as a deal that good for a nice diamond. However, that style of ring is my favorite of these, I find the others too “busy.”
Like your mom, I feel that halos take away from the center diamond, in fact they can look like cluster rings to me. I find it a very busy, blurry look, and I like well-defined, clean designs. But that’s my taste. What is yours – truly? They are very popular right now, but yes, the trend will wane, and will you still be happy with it, when it’s as popular as a marquise diamond in yellow gold with a baguette ring wrap is now?

I originally voted for #4, but after seeing 5 on your finger.. I think that is actually my favorite. It really is a beautiful ring, and a ring doesn’t have to be huge to be pretty!
