My dad passed away when I was 13, and to honor him at the wedding I’m planning on having a letter read at the ceremony that he wrote to me in my baby book. At the reception, in place of a father/daughter dance, I am going to put together a separate slideshow of pictures dedicated to him but I need to decide on the music to play with the slideshow. I don’t want it to be typical or too weepy (it’s a wedding not a funeral after all) so I wanted it to be more uplifting and like, “Miss you dad, but I’m ok” instead of super-sad. I’ve considered these songs:
My Girl – Temptations (his fave song)
You’ll Be In My Heart- Phil Collins
Any other ideas that aren’t too overdone/weepy?

who were his favorite artists? i think it would be more memorable and personal to use his own favorite music (like you are already doing), than to put tear-inducing “tribute-like” songs, ya know? make people remember your dad!

He loved the Beatles, classic rock like ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, etc. and also old school Motown.

Idk if its overdone but check out I loved her first by heartland. It’s a country song but its beautiful. I played this song for my dad while planning my sis’s wedding 4 years ago, he teared up listening to it, and he told me to keep it for myself when it was my turn. He passed away last june, but I want to do a photo tribute of me and my dad while I dance with another family member.

I agree with MsMeowerson. My dad passed away over a year ago and I am playing “Just Like Heaven” by the Cure. We danced to it when I was 2. You could to that and then if you want to play one of those father/daughter songs afterward that would be good too!
