Bichon Frise:

I think it depends on what else is going on in your living room. Do you have a throw rug or carpet? What color paint is on the walls?

We are getting a busy rug and throw pillows, so we stuck with match-matchy pieces.

Love the sofa and chairs by the way!

Edit– The colors you are going with are very neutral…so I think in most cases, mixing and matching would work.

I definitely would not get the exact matching chairs. You could use them in a different color.  I like the shape of the first chair you posted- the tufting mimics that of the sofa. But, I’m not a fan of the shape of the legs.

It’s hard to receommend an alternative as we don’t know where or how you intend to use the chairs.

Bichon Frise:  The living room paint sounds lovely. I think that you can’t go wrong if you are buying everything at once…so I vote for mixing it up…and chair #2 in bone. I think the legs are interesting and different.

I always like to do patterned accent chairs. It makes the room really pop and adds personality. I would build on the green-grey walls and add some warmth to offset the charcoal sofa with a natural wood accent table, and hints of brown and bronze.

Keep the rug fairly simple with a soft pattern so it doesn’t fight with the chairs, and mix smaller scale patterned throw pillows onto the sofa to tie it all together.

I would mix it up a chair that’s a bit different in style, but has the same clean lines like your sofa. The West Elm Dunham chair comes in your fabrics and I love the look of that one with your sofa! I would choose a pop of color like the ink blue or lagoon but that’s just me 🙂 it also comes in more neutral colors and many fabrics.

My husband insisted on a leather sectional, so all of us (him, me, my two kids, and his daughter) could all sit together.  I insisted that the chair that went in the room be a subtle fabric, rather than just leather, to add some interest.  I also got some throw pillows for the sectional.

If he insists on a solid (I wouldn’t give in, if I were you), you could do a great area rug and some awesome pillows to add interest.
