Hello! I need help choosing a hairstyle for my e-pic shoot next week. A little background: I have naturally curly hair, which you'll see in the pics below. It's about shoulder length. I'm getting my hair cut/colored the day before our e-pics, and whenever I get my hair cut/colored my stylist straightens it because she cuts it dry (curly haired women have strange hair methods.) Here are my options:
-I could wear it down and curly, which is how I wear it almost every single day of my life. The picture shown is probably exactly how my hair would look.
-I could wear it up and curly, which is how my FI loves it. When I do this it kind of turns out a little different every time, but the picture shown is pretty much how it would turn out.
-Finally, I could wear it straight since my stylist will have done a really great job straightening it the day before (it will hold up until the next day.) I never really wear my hair like this, but I love it (ya always want what you can't have, huh?) The picture is from a few years ago, but my hair hasn't changed since then. Also, ignore my silly face, this was after a few drinks ;) The only concern I have with this is that it could be pretty humid which would make my hair go crazy.
So what do you think?
I voted straight, I think it makes you look younger, more relaxed and fun. :)
And I forgot to add, that I think you should wear it straight for your e-pics because THEN you can wear it up and curly like your FH likes on your wedding day :) :)
Haha well the straight hair pic was taken when I was freshly 21. I'm now halfway through 23. But thanks for the opinion, thecolorteale!
I think you should look most like "you" in your epics. Curly up or down but if you normally where it curly thats how I'd go.
While the straight hair is uber-cute, you should look like yourself in your engagement pictures.
I like the natural curly down look. Totally cute-- I love your curls! :)
You have beautiful hair! I like the idea of wearing it down and naturally curly for the e-pics and then up like your fiancé likes it for the wedding. (but of course it's your hair!) :)
where do you get your hair done? just curious as a fellow clevelander!
oh and I love your hair straight and up curly! So pretty!
Thanks for the votes and responses girls!!
MrsCingle: I get my hair done at Ibi David Salon and Spa in Westlake. I go to Ibi, the owner. She's amazing and can handle my unruly curly hair.
I voted for straight, but then again I just love straight hair with side bangs!
Oh, I wish I was only 1/2 way through 23! ...sigh
I love them all! I'm always tempted to lean towards my SO's favorite when I'm out of options and/or am undecided! Could you get a cute thing for your hair to dress it up if you want?
Sorry i'm no help. I'm leaning towards curly dos since they are most "you" and you defintiely want to look like yourself! And, humidity can get fierce on curly hair in a matter of seconds.
You have perfectly curly gorgeous hair. I'm so jealous! Mine's all frizzy and wavy and psychotic.
I love your hair straight, it looks great. But...You want to have fun with your engagement pictures, laugh, kiss and feel comfortable with your fiance. If he loves you in the curly updo and you feel comfortable with it....it could make for some great fun shots. Make sure you post, we want to see which you chose.
I voted for curly down... though that could just be because I'm super jealous of anyone with curly hair! My hair is ridiculously straight (read: flat) and I can't get it to do anything. I think you look so cute with your hair curly.
Hahaha oh it's faaarrr from perfect. It took probably 8 years to figure out how to get it right. Trial and error, and every curly girl is different. Maybe I'll wear it curly down, and then doing a hair change lol. I can usually put my hair up in less than 5 min. Hmm...
I really like it straight down or curly down...I think if you are the most "you" with it curly then go for it! :) It is beautiful :)
Also, I agree with waiting to wear it up and curly for your hubby on your big day!!
I vote for curly and down--I think it makes sense to look like yourself in the photos. You can save the updo for the wedding! :)
I like the straight look better, but I voted for curly down since that's most "you." You don't want to look back on your pics and think that they aren't a good representation of who you were at that point in your life.
Is there anyway you can wear your hair curly and down and then for a few shots at the end throw it up? I have curly hair too so I know that sometimes it is just not that easy to pop it up
I think both the straight and curly look beautiful on you, but I think that when you're looking back at your e-pics you will want to look at much like "you" as possible! I vote curly!
I love the second pic of it up. It really brings out your gorgeus eyes!!!
I have curly hair and I love it when my hairdresser straightens my hair (so does FI). My hair, however, would NOT hold up a second day in humidity!!
I vote for how you have it every day of your life... they will be more 'you'!
@EAQ, yeah do that! wear it down with a nicer cocktail dress for "formal" e pics, then toss it up for more casual ones! =]
I like it straight too! I know you mentioned that you were younger, but I think you w/straight hair looks younger.
i like it straight down or down curly... but can you pull the top of it up if it's down curly sorta like marsha brady? your face is so pretty i think it would work really well...
Remember Laura from Family Matters? Here are her engagement pics and i like how it's pulled back from her face....

OK first of all, crebre, how do you have those?? Her hair looks very pretty in those...I'm not sure if I can do that though. I'll play around with my hair this weekend. I'm not sure if my hair is thick enough. Hmm...thanks for the inspiration photos though!
Rock your natural hair, girl! Love the half-up half-down idea.
anyone blessed with such amazing curls should be encouraged to embrace them! bone-straight is fashionable these past 15 years or so... but it won't always be so. one day soon it'll look dated. natural-looking hair will never go out of style. i
Curls curls curls curls curls! You have gorgeous curls and you will want to look like yourself in your photos!
Wow, I am super jealous of your curly hair! Mine is so flat and does not hold curl at all. I agree with mdarrah, you should look the most like 'you' in your e-pics. I would go with curly down.
