those sound yummy :) maybe no cream-based sauces though for those vegetarians that also don't do dairy?
Good point Sewing but I should point out that we do not have any vegans in attendance. Just non-meat eaters!
ahh, in that case, I'd like to change my vote to gnocchi then :) yum yum!
Ahh, you're making me hungry! I would personally prefer the veggie stir fry or the gnocchi but I would leave very happy with any of the above.
I voted for the veggie stir fry, but would choose the gnocchi if there were veggies on the side. I am not a vegetarian, but I was raised by one and usually choose veggie options.
I chose the vegie stir fry. The gnocchi sounds good but I'd worry that unless it came with a side salad (or there were vegies available on the table) I'd end up feeling bloated and kind of sick from the rich cream sauce, and that means no fun on the dancefloor! If the gnocchi came with salad though I'd probably choose that bc it's not something I eat often and would be more special :)
One of my best friends is a vegetarian. I'd recommend a choice that is reliably vegetarian like the pasta with alfredo sauce... Sometimes mistakes are made that include meat in broth or cooking an item in a more traditional way... Vegetarians can have digestive issues with this... because it's not a part of their normal diet...
Thanks for your responses guys this is helpful!
@mountain bride - Everyone will get a starter salad - mixed greens with a raspberry vinaigrette and there will be bread and butter on the table. There will also be a dessert served right afterwards and then cake will be served for late night! If that helps to give you more info!
I love alfredo, but I voted for the veggie stir fry because most veggie entrees are a pasta primavera and I know a lot of vegetarians get bored of eating spaghetti at every wedding they go to. ;) Cream sauces can be heavy, too, and the stir fry sounds like it'd work for vegans (or, um, vegetarians watching their diets!), as well.
The gnocchi also sounds great, though! Hungry! ;)
I'm a vegetarian and the veggie option at all the weddings i've been to have been overly starchy, cheesy, creamy and heavy. I'd vote for something more vegetable focused, which is why i voted for the primavera.
Gnocchi is delicious, but I would want some colour on the plate.
I voted for the primavera with blush sauce, but I think any of the primavera options could work well, or even the stiry fry. As for the gnocchi, I know that personally I wouldn't want an entree without vegetables.
I eat mostly vegetarian, and I looove when people provide veggie meals that aren't pasta-based or covered in cheese or cream.
It does seem like a lot of vegetarian options at events are pasta focused, so I voted for stir fry since it would be a little different and lighter than some of the pasta/sauce options. That said, they all sound tasty!
If you do a thread search, you'll find some very similar threads to this one--with vegetarians weighing in on what they'd like and why. I noted in on those threads, as others have noted here, that as a vegetarian it can get pretty tired to always get pasta. If you do go that route, I would steer away from heavy sauces--although I'm not vegan, the lower amount of fat in my diet overall makes super-rich stuff hard to digest.
I applaud you for having a veggie meal, by the way. Us herbivores thank you!
