Okay, so I have the earrings picked already (see attached), but I'm having a heck of a time with the necklace.  It's either go for the all out bling, or do something a little more understated.  Please note on the earrings that the pearl at the bottom was replaced with a crystal instead.

My dress is white, with a rouching (sic) around the waist and there are small flowers on it with crystals in them.  I'm wearing a tiara and veil that goes to the middle of my back, I believe.

Please give me your insights, bees!

The earrings are really pretty!!  I think you should go for a simple necklace because you already have drop earrings and a tiara.  So understate the neacklace part i think!

It's an understated sweetheart neckline, if that makes sense.  I tried in vain to save the picture, but it won't let me.  I will try my best to put a picture up if I can.

Could you find a similar dress online for us to see? Since you're wearing pearl earrings, I would go for a simple strand of pearls, but thats just my personal opinion.

texaslawgirl makes a good point with the simple strand of pearls since your earrings have a drop pearl.  That might look quite classy.  Post a dress pic if you can.  Would love to see it.

I voted no necklace. I think the earrings are a gorgeous statement piece. With the tiara and a veil, I think you can't go wrong with simplicity.

To save the picture, try holding CTRL and PrtSc/Print Screen (there should be some button on your keyboard like this!) and then paste it into a blank image file (like in MS Paint). You can crop it to make the image if you need to and that should work. ;)

I voted for an understated crystal necklace, but it's hard to say without seeing the dress and how high or low the neckline is, so not even sure whether you need a necklace at all. But I'm thinking something that is more metal and studded with the crystals will match better. Whether it's a pendant or not I can't say. :)

Here's the dress (with much help from my fiance).  It was a PDF file, so it wasn't allowing me to save it.

Also, the earrings don't have the pearl at the bottom.  The seller switched the pearl with a crystal at my request.

I vote for a pendant. I had big blingy earrings but i felt like I couldn't NOT wear a necklace! A bare neck?! Ah the horror. So i had a cluster pendant. You can go digging through my recaps to see more pictures...my dress was kind of likes yours, too, witt the intricacy on the neckline. I have this one for now. I didn't think i looked too overdone, either, wiht the veil and hairpiece. Ok i uplaoded the pic and it's not very helpful. I'lo go digging for pictures of them

@ejs4y8:  Oh my gosh, you looked so pretty in your gown!  I think you looked great without a huge, blingy necklace.  Yeah, I'm leaning towards a cluster necklace of some sort, perhaps with some crystals or perhaps even a diamonique pendant (from QVC).  I am working with a woman from Etsy to see if she could make a one of a kind work of art for me.

Before I saw that you had the pearls replaced with crystals I was going to say layers of pearls, like 5-6 strands in varying lengths and size of pearls on each strand, but I'm a very romantic type and I'm kind of in the middle of a pearl binge right now, haha.

Maybe a longer knotted necklace that can graze just past the dip in your sweetheart neckline into your cleavage? I'm a big fan of those too :)

@daydreamwanderer:  That's a good idea as well.  I know I'm going to end up buying 4 different necklaces because what I might like one day will probably change the day of the wedding.  Guys have it so easy, they just get a tux and they're set.   :)

@rol, thanks! I thought it balanced nicely; i really couldn't do a bare neck. i should also mention that I bought a VERY blingy bracelet from Etsy. It was the Sabrina from Bella Nouelle. And it was way sparkly awesomeness. So i did have one very intense piece, just far away from my face. If you like in your face jewelry (it's sort of my thing, i like accessories!) consider that! I got tons of compliments on it all night. It's pearls, but if you PM her, i bet she could whip something up for you. I sent her pictures of my earrings and necklace and asked her what she thought would go best. You could even have someone make you a matching set if you want matching. I like when things go together but don't match, personally.

@ejs4y8, I am the same as you.  I feel utterly naked if I don't have earrings and a necklace on when I go to work!  That's why the thought of not wearing a necklace with my dress seemed strange and foreign to me!  My sister's letting me borrow her ruby and diamond bracelet to wear, which I'm petrified about in case something happens to it!  Your bracelet was absolutely beautiful and I am going to have to check out the woman you got it from! Thanks for the recommendation!

I think a bare neck, with beautiful earrings and a beautiful bracelet is elegant with a strapless gown.  Those earrings are so gorgeous that I really don't think you need a necklace.  My dress is strapless, with a slight sweetheart neckline...and I plan to wear beautiful sparkly, dangly earrings and a sparkly bracelet...I think a necklace would be too much/would take away from the look.  I'm sure you'll look beautiful whatever you decide! :)

I tend to go for a more minimalist look so if it were me, with those beautiful earrings and dress, I would either go for a bare neck or a very delicate, thin, necklace with a small diamond/crystal pendant....

How big is the pendant? i like the style of it, as long as it's not like, 3" in diameter...like the size of the sparkly thing on my bracelet! that woudl be too much. I like how it's delicate with a little somethin' somethin tho!

I would do a pendant, can the seller you got the earrings from do a necklace using the same crystal that she replaced the pearl with?  I think the one you posted above might be too much, with the bracelet too (which I LOVE!).

The picture of the bracelet isn't mine.  It's another brides bracelet that she wore (very pretty!).  The pendant is the size of a quarter, so it's really not that big and gaudy.  Plus, it's a one of a kind!  ;)

Definitely go with less bling. I say the more understated the better. You don't want the attention to be "whoa look at all that jewelry"

I like the idea of a crystal pendant that goes well with the earrings - I think too simple of a necklace would look plain with those gorgeous earrings.

This is my general accessory guideline:

Big earrings = no necklace. Plus ring(s) and/or bracelet

    Necklace = studs. Plus ring(s) and/or bracelet

You are wearing a big white dress and probably a veil. You don't want to over-do it with accessories. Let your beauty shine through. That's what people will notice most.

I think that is great, then rol. After all, you already mentioned that you're more of a jewelry person, right? I think some people are into the simple, understated look, but some people want a litlte more flash (a la me!) so it just depends on your preference. I like the necklace, now that I know it's the size of a quarter. Mine was about that big, too, just so you know =]. I think as long as the bling isn't clustered all right around your face, you're ok. A huge necklace and huge earrings would be a no-no, generally speaking, but dangly earrings and a sparkly necklace aren't overdoing it.

I dunno, who am I kidding. I had necklace+earrings+bracelet+right hand ring+tiara+veil. More hollywood-starlet-meets-Elizabeth Taylor blingy, not crazy 16 year old digs into mom's jewelry box for prom Tongue out

@ejs4y8:  I figure that since the necklace is so small, it won't take away from the earrings or be too much.  The bracelet is so far away, that I don't even count that, and plus, it's not a big bracelet either.  I'm like you, I love sparkly things but not too much that it looks gawdy or teenagerish.  I, like you, am wearing the tiara and veil (the tiara's not big though).  Plus, my makeup will be 'natural' as opposed to smokey, so it won't look like too much either.  Everyone who knows me knows that I LOOOOVVVEEE jewelry and they count on me having lots of it, and wearing all different types all the time.

@rol, I dont think the necklace would take away from the earrings, either! I think we sparkly jewelry fanatics are in the minority here....Tongue out. I say go for it since it's your personality anyways. It'd be weird to see someone who generally strays for more simplistic looks to suddenly be all decked out, but if you normally wear a decent amount on a regular basis, it'd be weird if you suddenly scaled back! ha!

@ejs4y8:  I figure if I am not wearing bling like I usually am, people (especially people from work) are going to be wondering what's up with me.  They are always commenting and complimenting my jewelry (as I usually have new items a few times a month-yes, I'm addicted to jewelry!).  I ordered that necklace that I put up a few days ago (along with another necklace, but you didn't hear that!) and now I will just have to find a really spectacular right hand ring and I'll be all set!

Too bad you don't live closer to me, we could go jewelry shopping together!  ;)
