I have been busy trying to get our ceremony wording right. I have two openings that I really like and I am not sure which one to choose or how to combine some things to say what I am trying to. Can you please give me opinions which one is better or ways to have parts of both in there that sound good.
Dear Family and Friends, we are gathered here today to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments, and to cherish the words which shall unite _______ and_______ in marriage.
Marriage is the promise between two people who love each other, and who trust in that love, who honor one another as individuals, and who wish to spend the rest of their lives together.
This ceremony will not create a relationship that does not already exist between you. It is a symbol of how far you have come in the past ten years. It is a symbol of the promises you will make to each other to continue growing stronger as individuals and as partners, no matter what challenges or successes you encounter together in the years before you.
Today, your lives, which began on separate paths, will be joined as one.
__________and _____ are truly blessed to be surrounded by their dearest family and friends. They are so grateful to you for all of the unconditional love, joy, support, and guidance you have given them over the years. They welcome you here and want to thank each of you for coming today to share in this very special time in their lives.
Welcome, and thank you all for being here. (Please be seated- if they aren’t already)
Before we begin, Kevin and Jessica- please take a few breaths. Settle into the beauty of this moment, this occasion, and this place. Whenever you are worried or stressed in every day matters, may you recall this beautiful day, this joyous ceremony and the commitment of love that you shared here today, and give you the strength and wisdom you need to handle any challenge that comes your way.
The ceremony that the two of you have created is personally meaningful, and rings true to each of you. For many years to come you will remember this day; yet, beyond the fragrant flowers, beyond the carefully selected music, and beyond the albums filled with picturesque memories, you will remember the words said here today. You are joining together because of your love for each other, and because you are committed to sharing equally in both the highs and lows of the days to come.
Your wedding today is a first step on your new journey together. As you begin this chapter of your lives, remember, all of your yesterdays have led you to today, and your love will lead you into tomorrow.
It is a wonderful thing to look ahead and envision what your life will be like together. By and large, the most important part about marriage, the most important part of what you’re doing today, is the lifetime commitment you are making. You have chosen each other freely, joining with your partner through all of life’s seasons. You choose each other to share the many years of life- not just for today, but for all your tomorrows, and for all times.
_______ and _________ today, your lives will be joined as one in marriage.
