Wow, they are really different. I like them both. The second one is a really unique dress that would look great with a birdcage.
How does the top look in the second one, that's the only thing I'd be concerned about.
They're both beautiful, but I LOVE the second one. I have a serious weakness for tulle and I love that it's so different.
I'm a similar size to you (34DD, size 6-8) and I think the first one would look better on you. The second one would do me no favors in the bust area.
wow this one is hard. Honestly I'm not going to vote because I love both of them and think it really comes down to how they look on you. The first one is more classic but still somewhat modern with the rouching. Also I bet the rouching is very flattering. And I love the drop waist and twist.
I love how the second one juxtaposes a very girly, ballerina skirt with a more modern top. LOVE. My only concern with the top is how it would look on a full bust, (i have one too and that's always a huge concern of mine).
Hmmm... you people are not voting! So far the comments love the David Fielden, but the voting has the Augusta Jones in the lead, with the DF only having one vote.
I need comments and votes!!!!
wow i have never seen a dress like the second one, it is stunning. and reminds me of the picture on your avatar. it is singly probably one of the most sophisticated dresses i have ever seen... with a bird cage or drop veil, omg...
um if you can't tell i voted for the second dress..
i voted for the DF, because i love how different it is. both are beautiful though!
I would have to see you in it obviously but I can't imagine the second dress would do much for your hourglass figure. I voted for the Augusta.
They are both stunning. It's hard to say w/o seeing them on you, but I love the Augusta. Very elegant!
I can't decide for you without seeing you in the dresses! Judging the dresses alone, I MUCH prefer David Felden dress. It's more unique and seems more luxurious. I voted for that one! Also, since you say you are hourglass shaped, I am thinking the natural waist line for the dress will accentuate your waist?
Wow, I adore that second dress!! But, I have to agree with hotchildinthecity - I too am a 34DD size 8 - and I don't think I could pull off the top part of the dress. I think something more form fitting that shows off your figure would be more flattering. But I'm also on the shorter side, so if you are tall, I can see how you might be able to pull it off.
One thing about bras - us DDs need quite a bit of support and I had one hell of a time finding a corset/long line/low back bra that could do the trick. I had to give up one dress I adored because of this issue. I finally went with a dress that has a lot of structure and boning built into it and I feel much better in it.
I'm with a lot of the others, I think the second dress is amazing, but on a larger busted girl, a top like that is not always the most flattering.
I would go for the Augusta Jones, since it seems like it will help accentuate your waist. It also depends on the kind of "look" you want for your wedding; the David Felden dress is definitely more unusual/unique, while the Augusta Jones is much more elegant and classic. I would also be concerned about the top on the David Felden dress--I feel like might be one of those dresses that you have to be stick thin and small chested to look good in. Either way, they're both lovely--and you know better than we do which looks better on you! :)
From your body description, I think the first one would look wonderful. It's a gorgeous dress.
i voted for the first dress even though i love the flow-y-ness of the 2nd dress. i just feel that the 2nd dress covers you up too much from the waist up.
Just on the models, I LOVE the second one infinitely more. It's just so classy and unique and really makes an impression. However, I'm also a busty girl, and I know those kinds of tops do not look good on me because all the fabric always accentuates it more, and then that's where all the attention is.
So, for you, I would say the first one, which is still beautiful and stunning.
However, if you don't think the draping on the bust in the second one negatively accentuates your chest, then I would have to say the second one hands down :)
I love the second dress, but I really think that the first one would be fabulous on you given your body type. They're both great though. :)
Is your wedding indoors or outdoors?
I LOVE the second dress, but if your wedding is an outdoors wedding, that modern of a dress wouldn't fit the scene.
If your wedding is going to be elegant & modern go with number 2. If its outside, a little more casual but classy go with the first.
Good point- the style of the wedding! I am getting married here http://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/hotels/wood-hall-hotel/ and having a lunch time wedding, so no evening dancing etc. The room has art deco styling, and the David Fielden dress is inspired by Wallis Simpson's clothing, so only a few years out.
As for my boobs, that is the one thing that I am not sure about with the David Fielden. Although I have a large bust size, my boobs don't look that big, if that makes sense. People are always surprised, as I look like I should be a C cup, but I am not.
I think I am going to have to get some underwear and retry the David Fielden and if my bust looks overly busty, then it will be the Augusta Jones.
while the 1st one is probably more generally likeable, the 2nd one is more unique...if you like both about equally, I say go with the one that is more unique! do you want to wear something typical of 2009/2010 or do you like standing out in a unique style?
LOVE the second one! It's so different! Not the typical choice, which is what's so great about it. The contrast of the draped silk with the tulle skirt is stunning.
I must say I like them both but my favorite is the David Fielden its just so much more original and unforgetable and I think it would go great with the venue and time of day. Make sure to post photos of you in the one you choose once you are able to take them!
I like the second one because it's so much more unique than the first one. The first one is like, "Oh, I've seen this dress six million times." but the second one is more unique, and still totally beautiful!
Do you mind covering up your DDs? That'd be the only/biggest downside I could see.
Both of those dresses are really beautiful but the second one is so unique. I think you should go for the second one if you like how it looks on you.
I thought this vote would go the other way!
Second one!
But it is such a unique shape, that in the end it depends on how well it fits. I certainly couldn't pull it off!
Definitely the first gown...I LOVE IT!!! Especially the off-the-shoulder look, very romantic!
They're both beautiful gowns, butI voted for the first because of your boobs. I'm guessing that you and I are somewhat alike, based on your last comment (that your boobs don't LOOK big). I hover between a 34D and 34DD, and I'm guessing that the top of the second dress will make you look wide and super busty. I would definitely try it on again with a good bra and decide what you think then.
I love Augusta Jones and thought for sure thats what I wanted. I went and tried on at least 10 and took my photos. When I got home they did no justice for my body. I'm 5'5" 125, kinda curvy and I felt VERY hippy so I would suggest trying them on if you can.
I think the first one would look better on most, but the second gown is sooo unique that I had to pick that one.
I guess we'd have to see them on you!

Having tried on 73 dresses, I am down to two. I haven't been able to take any pics of me in them, so I will make a bad attempt at describing my body shape. I am a traditional hourglass shape, with 32DD bust, and wear a UK size 12, which is about an American 8-10.
The first is Anya by Augusta Jones
It has boning inside to hold you in, and the back fastens with a zip and taffeta covered buttons. I think the skirt is a little too full for me and I would have a couple of layers of the netting in the underskirt removed.
The second one is David Fielden style no 6929
The top is silk and has no boning etc in to add support. It fastens with one button at the top, and then there back is slighly open (has a slit). I would need a low back smooth line corset type bra to wear underneath.
Both cost the same, although the David Fielden one includes the cost of alterations. I would wear both with a birdcage veil as well.
