I’m super excited to have booked our venue space for our August wedding! I love the location and the coordinator is great. The venue is really flexible and totally reasonable on pricing. We will be having a brunch (so, daytime) reception and weather permitting we will be on the patio:
However, if it’s raining we will be inside:
My “dream vision” would be something more vintage, casual but still elegant. I love the idea of small jars and bottles serving as vases for tiny brightly-colored flower arangements on all the tables. I think that could still work if we are outside, but inside is SO modern looking that I think it would look weird if we had to be inside. I’m also thrown by the red (in the umbrellas outside and chairs inside), as it’s not a color I ever would have chosen myself. I love purple and think a dark purple would possibly coordinate, but I’m not sure about using a lot of dark colors for a summer daytime wedding.
So, bees, what do you think? I’d love to hear your ideas for color and decor! I’m just so confused because I feel like I could easily figure something out for the patio, but the inside just doesn’t go with that vision!

@LibrarianBride: I think brides worry way too much about decor. Your guests will look at the centerpiece, no matter what it is, and say “Isn’t that pretty!”
They won’t say” Lovely centerpieces but they are a bit vintage in inspiration and this is a modern venue.” They wil understand if the location has to be switched due to rain.
I suggest you plan for an outdoor wedding. If it has to be moved, so be it.
This looks summery to me:

@julies1949: You’re right…I’m probably way overthinking this! More than the style of decor not looking right I’m mainly concerned with clashing colors but I think I have a few ideas to work with. The pictures you posted are lovely!
At this point I’m leaning toward eggplant and gray, eggplant and yellow, or yellow and gray, each with touches of red accents to bring the whole thing together.

@LibrarianBride: it’s a beautiful venue, hopefully it won’t rain. The inside is more “modern” but it had elements of mid-century modern and the 1950’s vibe totally plays into your colorful vintage look you want. I’d incorporate some geometric shapes like round billy balls (yellow and red) and purple puffballs (Gomphrena). Football mums and Lisianthus would look cool too. Look at some vintage ’50’s Better Home and Gardens flower arranging books for ideas. The tables are cool looking so you might consider skipping tablecloths. I like your idea of small glass vases and bottles. For a little interest you could dye the water different colors. Vintage ’50’s tins could be fun too. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

@Goofball: Love all those pictures and ideas! Thank you! I am really excited about the venue…wanting to stay in the city it’s a little harder to find an outdoor space for the reception. I think this will be great and even if it rains the inside is nice as well. Sometimes the outdoor space is lovely but inside not so much! We wanted to stay away from hotel ballroom type spaces because they are just too formal for what we are going for so I’m glad the inside is a little unique and different. I love the tables outside too! We have the option of using the restaurant’s white linen or renting other colors from a company they work with but I already told the coordinator I want to leave them uncovered.
