I’m trying to put together a semi-cohesive color palette for my wedding this October. (I know, getting a late start!) Here are some details:
Location: a log cabin with a giant stone fireplace. Outside there is a 2nd story deck, and an open field surrounded by woods for the ceremony. The venue itself is super rustic and gorgeous, but I hesitate to go whole-hog on some sort of rustic “theme.”
Dress: VW351000 from David’s Bridal. Very flowy, romantic, etc. (haven’t picked a sash yet)
Me: fair-skinned, reddish blonde hair.
Ok! So I am pretty open when it comes to colors for our wedding flowers and decor. What I had been envisioning is a combination of bright, fun, modern orange hues with some green accents. But my florist thinks, due to my coloring and the romantic feel of the dress / rustic feel of the venue, some oranges accented with peach/cream and a more muted sage green would look nicer. I respect her opinion and want to work with her ideas, but I’m not 100% sold on the orange/peach/cream thing yet.
So far the only thing set in stone, color-wise, is that our linens are ivory and our napkins are sage green. Help me! 🙂

Also should mention: there is no bridal party in this wedding, so that’s why it’s ok that we have gotten such a late start on the color palette — no bridesmaids dresses to order 🙂

@brlabrat: I like the idea of sage green and a soft orange.

You could also go to http://www.design-seeds.com
Click on palette search
Playa round with the search by color value tool till you get your color of orange, then click on Go Get it to see the palettes

Love the soft orange and sage green! Should be very flattering to you and not too overdone on the theme! Maybe some contrasting blue/navy?

Gorgeous, thanks for the suggestions! I think I want to stay away from going too dark with colors, again because of how rustic and “woodsy” the log cabin venue is already, which rules out anything brown or cranberry to me.
But the photos above just made me fall IN LOVE with the softer orange / peach / sage combo (even a burrnt orange would do well there and would make it a little more autumn-oriented without being “theme-y”). I was having trouble picturing it but you guys just nailed it.
Moral of the story, I hired a good florist so that I could trust her opinion on things I know nothing about, and she earned her keep! Thanks again bees 🙂

Your wedding and dress are very similar to mine! My venue is a little less rustic (a Botanical Garden, reception is in their hall which has huge glass window-walls and exposed metal beams) but I too have a romantic, soft, one-shoulder dress. We are doing a bright olive green, a goldy yellow, and white. I love the idea of sage green, and while (like you) at first I thought “bleh, peach” – these pictures changed my mind! (And I think I like the word “apricot” more than “peach” 🙂 )
