Hey bees! I’m continually amazed by how helpful you fellow bees are so here’s a curly bridesmaid dress situation… I’d love to see if you’ve seen anything that fits my vision!
(a) Floor length
(c) Has straps on both shoulders & would suit a bridesmaid concerned about modesty – no halternecks either
(d) Vintage feel
(e) Under $200 AUD
(f) I’m happy to shop online, but if there’s something that might be stocked in bridal shops in Australia I’d be particularly interested.
(a) and (b) are obviously easy, but it’s the combination of (c) and (d) that I’m failing at.
We’re having an evening (6pm ceremony) wedding and I only have two bridesmaids, so everything in my head is pointing towards wanting them in long gowns – although admittedly my Maid/Matron of Honor, who’s insisted upon (c), is also not very happy about this. I think I’ve been accommodating enough at this point and long-to-short is more of a change than simply a different style around the bust/top, so I’m hoping once we actually go to try some on she’ll be convinced to go with me on this one! I really want an elegant look, and symmetry, and when I try to envision them in knee length it just doesn’t feel right.
Does anything spring to mind? I’ve spent ages scouring the internet and have only seen one that’s potentially doing it for me but I’d love to see some other options! We do have plenty of time – Maid/Matron of Honor won’t be coming over here for a dress shoping trip til November – but I’d like to have a few things in my head before then 🙂
Thank you so much in advance!

@goingtotherooftopoflove: I agree that floor length for an evening wedding is definately the go. How about this online one by Netty’s World? I have NO idea about their quality etc but it might do the trick. nettysworld.com.au

@goingtotherooftopoflove: I saw somehting like this in bridal shop on Keilor/Essendon Rd in Niddrie when I was looking for dresses. This was a few years ago but it was upstairs with a mens hiore place downstairs but I can’t remember the name.
They had so many dresses and seemed to be able to order them in any colour.
Have you had a look at uniquevinatge.com. They are a US company but have vintage style dresses.
There is also a girl on etsy that lives in the Gippsland area that makes vintage dresses and when I looked into using her the prices were reasonable. Maybe location search etsy for australian sellers.

I got my bridesmaids’ dresses from For Her and For Him (http://www.forherandforhim.com) and we were amazed at the quality of the dresses and service we got.
They have a “vintage” line: http://www.forherandforhim.com/vintage-bridesmaid-dresses_c3125_a28_t148.html
Some dresses which I think suit your criteria:
You can choose the colours and get fabric swatches too. They’re a friendly bunch 🙂
Other than that, I have no ideas! I was horrified at the prices of bridesmaids dresses in bridal stores in my area of NSW.

@goingtotherooftopoflove: Hi there,
I live in Sydney and i purchased my bridesmaids dressed from JJ’s house. Now my bridesmaids dresses don’t fit your description however they did have lot of dresses on there in a variety of colours and styles. I’m sure you could find one on there.
I paid about $85AUD for each dress but with shipping each dress came to about $100AUD.
I was happy with the quality. They took about 4 weeks to be made and to be shipped.
Here’s a photo.
