Here’s the deal. I’m in love with this dress for my bridesmaids.
I’ve talked to all three of my ladies, individually, to see what they were comfortable spending. I planned on just taking what they were comfortable with, then paying the difference to get this dress [within reason, of course- I can’t spend $100s on each lady]. Two of them said around $200. Perfect! This dress is $220, so $20 apiece is no sweat. I talked to my third girl….problem. She said she had no clue how much dresses cost and suggested around $40. Whoa.
Now, she is my Maid/Matron of Honor, so I said I would help her out a little more since it’s very important to me that she be a part of my day. I don’t want money problems to be her reason for not attending. I told her I would cover half her dress [she’s also paying for airfare for her and her boyfriend to fly across the country to be here]. I know I should probably pay the same ammount for each lady, but, like I said, she’s my Maid/Matron of Honor, so she gets special treatment.
Even if I paid for half her dress, it would still put it at $110, about $70 out of her range. I know she would do it; she even said she could just come alone [her and her Boyfriend or Best Friend have been together for 8 years-no way alone!]. I told her that’s ridiculous, and I would try to find a different dress. I’ve been searching and searching, and I can’t find anything else I absolutely love. I’ve found plenty that are ok, but none like this one.
This is where I need your help, bees! I know all of you are some resourceful ladies, and you know plenty of sites that I don’t, so I was wondering if anyone can help me find a similar style dress that doesn’t cost $220. My requirements are: long, red, matching, and cheap. Sweetheat neckline is an added bonus!
Thanks in advance to everyone who finds anything!

You can’t get a fancy dress from Ross for $40. She said she couldn’t possibly afford more than $40?? I understand being pressed for cash but wow, maybe you can ask her to pay $60-70.
This one is 89 from outrinner and comes in burgandy
This one is also 89

I saw your post and I don’t have time tonight to actually go through these websites to see if there’s a dress similar to yours, but I thought I’d give you the links so that you can check them out yourself! I’ve found dresses on these websites that I like and they’re a lot less than $200!

@mrs-j-to-be: That is the actual date. I’m giving them PLENTY of notice so they can save, especially since two are traveling from out of state.
Haha, I actually have most of those bookmarked as back ups. They’re all just not quite the same after finding this one I love. I have a feeling I’ll end up having to pay more than half her dress so they’re able to have it. Why did I have to love such an expensive dress?! Why? Why? Why?!
Thank you for looking though. I really appreciate it.

@kala_way: Are all of those from the same site? I’ve never heard of it. I’ll go check it out now. Thanks! And about the money, I think they sort of live paycheck to paycheck, and she’s trying to save for a new car since hers just died. That on top of the plane tickets and asking off work, I can see why she lowballed, but I just can’t find anything THAT low.
@allegrovivo: Thanks! I’ll go check them out now!
