I tried on several dresses that I like but I am having a really difficult time finding a true a-line gown. A lot of them are modified a-lines or dropped waists and I want a true a-line dress.
I also want all over lace, and I tried one dress that was really close except I HATE the lace pattern, it is too tableclothy.
Some of you bees are dress experts. The dress I liked is the Alfred Angelo Sapphire 801, which in the pictures looks like it is a dropped waist but it really isn’t in real life.
Another example would be the Justin Alexander 8629 and the Allure 9109. I’m trying to assemble some choices so I can try to track down samples.

I also tried on (and really liked) AA 801. It just didn’t have everything I was looking for. This is another dress I tried on, and everyone seems to love it. I ended up not ordering it either, but it is so beautiful. It is really light weight and the lace on it is amazing! I am fairly sure this one is Augusta Jones – Kim. I also liked a lot of Justin Alexanders dresses.

@fuzzyslipper: When I saw this thread I immediately thought of Justin Alexander 8557. It has a satin (I think) waistband but the rest is lace and it is GORGEOUS. There are much prettier real bride photos on pintrest if you don’t love the stock photo. It was my dream dress but I couldn’t find anyone near me who had it to try on so I ended up going a totally different direction. I hope you find your perfect lace a-line!

@wntrwhte: See post above – I accidentally didn’t tag you, my bad.
fuzzyslipper I love that dress on you!

I got a Rosa Clara dress from the lunanovias line – taleo or something like that I think. It is allover lace, is beautiful and is true A-line with a natural waist.

@wntrwhte: Justin Alexander 8627 is another option! I tried it on, and it was so beautiful (I ended up going with a non strapless option though).

Martina Liana and Essence of Australia have some really lovely ones.

@StarryNight2011: It’s funny you should mention the casablanca. The second runner right now is a casablanca dress, but there are parts about it I don’t like.
What I liked about the AA 801 was it was STRUCTURED. it had a lot of boning and was heavily lined, and I feel like there was no possible way I could ever look fat in that dress. However, the lace pattern was awful– tableclothy.
The second runner is the Casablanca 1972,which I love the lace pattern on but hate the bust/underbust detailing on. Additionally, the sample I tried was a 20 and I am a 12 so I was clipped down into it and it bunched in weird places. I know casablanca will customize, but I have to be able to show them exactly what I want.
The allure 1909 and the justin alexander posted above are exactly what I want, but I am hoping for more beading.
Here is a (bad) picture of me in the too-big Casablanca (please ignore my weird shadow double chin). I love the bottom but I feel like the dress needs to have more structure up top to kind of keep its overall shape better. The allure 9109 is a close choice because their champagne color is really lovely.

Here is the AA, and you can see I look DRAMATICALLY better in this dress. Like 20lbs thinner and the top sits better. I am wishing I could find a dress just like this, but better quality lace in a more bold pattern versus tablecloth.

Have you tried Alfred Angelo 867? It looks a bit more fitted and may not be exactly what you are looking for but it is gorgeous in person. I tried it on but found that lace wasn’t really for me

I tried one in Kleinfeld. Here is the picture

@wntrwhte: The AA801 does look great! As far as the Casablanca goes, I understand not wanting to gamble on a dress when you aren’t sure of the fit. Personally, I like the lace on the AA 801 better than the Casablanca 1972…but that’s just me. Because there aren’t alot of dress places where I live, I didn’t get a chance to try on any Casablanca dresses, so I don’t know if the dresses are structured or not. I just love the look of the lace on the Casablanca 1934 in the photo.
You still have some time, keep looking! 🙂
