My FI and I are about 95% sure we want to split the cost of a Wii and Wii Fit Plus (with balance board) for our holiday gifts to each other.  I am really excited!

Have you used Wii Fit?  Do you recommend it?  What "equipment" do I need to go with it?  I see on Amazon you can buy stuff like the remote controller and a nunchuk controller.  Do we need to buy these, too?

    Thanks!

I have used the Wii. I did the boxing (and bowling, tennis, etc (so i guess the sports?)) and it was an AWESOME workout! It was my girlfriends and she just had the hand held controller for it...? Don't know if this helps or not! But I really want one too!!!

FI got me Wii fit last year... you just need the balance board, and you'll need a controller and nunchuck, although, pretty sure the Wii comes with one controller and nunchuk.  I think it's really fun, but as with all exercise related things, I stopped using it after 6 months Embarassed  I've been thinking about starting up again though after the holidays!

I got the Wii Fit for XMas last year and I found that it really helped me be accountable for getting up and working out everyday because there is a written record of how much I did and when I did it.  There is a large variety of exercises to do like yoga, strength training, balance exercises, and cardio.  Some exercises are not that great, but you can get a good workout doing things like the cardio boxing and the hula hooping and even the dancing.  The only problem is that after a while of not doing it I find that I have a hard time making myself start up again because the game will know that I have been bad!  But overall, it definitely helped me track my weight and progress and most importantly it is a fun way to work out.

I have the Wii Fit and I love it!  Very addicting.

I've had it over a year and it came in incredibly handy when I wanted to reach my goal weight for my wedding back in October. I still use it to weigh myself everyday and I work out on it at least 4 times a week.  When you skip a weigh-in or work-out it scolds you!!

I reccommend getting the Wii Active game that came out a few months ago.  It's intense.

However, if you don't like lunges stay away.  They have you do a lot of those.  It's a great exercise for the thighs and buns though. You really feel the burn!

    Have fun!

i definitely 2nd the recommendation for the wii active. i watched my friend use the wii fit and it didnt seem like much. but when i got the active it was such a workout. but dont worry about staying away if you dont like lunges. you can always take out an excercise you dont want to do in the options. and i love the 30 day challenge. i definitely got a really good workout when i did it. and you can create your own workouts like the wii fit. but i do wish that i had a balance board. that is something i want to get next for my wii.

I feel like the loan disenter, but I was really bored with wii fit.  It just didn't feel like the same workout I'd get with Jillian Michaels or running. I'm hoping to get the EA active game and I think that'll be more intense.

We loved the Wii Fit for about 2 months and have not touched it since then. That was over a year ago. I even bought new games and haven't touched them.

My FI bought me a Wii and Wii fit for my birthday.  I loved it and worked out with it for about 2 months and then I lost interest.  The same exercises became old and kind of boring.  I pick it up every now and then though.  I asked for EA Active for Christmas and I hope it sparks my interest again :)

It's a great game for people who don't go to the gym and who don't do hardcore/ even medium-core exercises. So for me, I love it because I don't exercise and this is fun. I'm excited about the EA game which I have not been able to do yet since we moved. It's pretty cool.

You will need a yoga mat if you don't have one and I use wrist weights to amp up the effectiveness. However, I just saw that they make 2 lb weights for the numbchucks. So, there is a lot out there to fit what you want to do. If you get it, I hope you love it!

I am hoping to get one for Christmas! :D

My brother tried the Wii Fit Plus out with his girlfriend's mother and he loved it! Said it was enough to convince him to buy a Wii and Wii Fit! :)

I have the Wii, and can't wait to get the Wii Fit! I'm not a video game person, but I love how interactive this is!

I think the game that comes with Wii Fit is kind of lame, I don't feel that I get the best workout from it.  However, the Jillian Michael's game is pretty awesome, I've used that for two days in a row for only 15 minutes each time and my butt is completely sore :)  I think it's nice to have for those days when I only have a few minutes to work out and can't get to the gym to do a real workout; at least then I feel like I've done something that day :)
