So we’ve got a few quotes from different decor companies to do our ceiling drapery and it’s beyond what we’re willing to pay (we’re talking $600-$850 just for this part of the decor) SOOO we’ve decided to DIY our ceiling drapery as long as the price for all the material could beat what the decor companies would charge us. (AND we can sell it afterwards to other local brides getting married!) Our reception area is 50ft X 50ft.
This is my inspiration:
I work at a decor/fabric shop part-time so I can get tulle for about $2.50/m (108” wide). I would need approx. 9 meters per strip X 8 strips in total around the room= $180 (plus tax) I’m still looking around to see if I can find tulle at a better price.
For the lights (this is where I need help making a decision!!!):
OPTION #1: These would cost us $176 (plus tax) (Pro’s: Wouldn’t need to attach the strings together….Con’s: they’re green wire NOT white and I’m not sure about their quality/brand AND they’re ‘cool white’ not ‘warm’ white glow)
OPTION #2: These would cost us $100 (Pros: white wire, LED’s…Cons: Don’t know the quality AND 5 strings of lights would need to be put together for one section AND they’re ‘cool white’ not ‘warm’)
OPTION #3: These would cost us $159.80 (Pro’s: Good quality/brand, they’re white wire, and a ‘warm’ glow light… Con’s: would have to attach 5 sets to each other, for each section of lights) Also, I don’t think these are LED so if one burns out the whole string might burn out? I’m not sure?
OPTION #4: Would cost us $140 (Pro’s: Good quality/brand, they have a ‘warm’ white glow, they’re LED’s, would only have to attach two sets for each section…Con’s: green wire)
Other required material: hoola hoop to sew tulle on to, tacs or some kind of pin, and heavy duty wire ($10 max)
So….which lights would you choose? I would have really liked to have icicle lights, like in the inspiration picture, but they would cost us approx. $320 in total (YIKES!)
Anyone else DIY their ceiling drapery? Let me know 🙂
