I went bridesmaid dress shopping again with one of my ladies, and we found these three options that we really like. The wedding will be taking place on a Friday night; it’s going to be formal (groomsmen most likely in tuxes), but I don’t want the girls to look stuffy/matronly. My girls are pretty much all over the place in terms of size/shape: one is super tall and thin, one is shorter (5’4″) and curvier/heavier, and one is 5’6″ and pretty average sized. I know of course they all need to try it on to see, but any opinions would be much appreciated 🙂
#1: (it would be in platinum)
#2: (also in platinum)
This one is the one that we had originally decided that we liked (it would also be in gray):

Oops meant to post this in “Bridesmaid”!

They are all pretty, but I’d have to vote halter because I constantly worry about strapless bridesmaid dresses. There is nothing worse than seeing the tugging/adjusting/slipping tango throughout the ceremony and reception!

I don’t think short dresses go well with tuxes and formal weddings. I agree with ChaCha that I think most bridesmiads are more comfortable in something that is not strapless and I think in pictures it looks much better (less skin showing)
I voted for the original halter

hmm. the dessy dress is definitely my favorite, but for the sake of fitting all shapes and sizes, i’d go with the halter.

I think #2 is generally a more flattering style if you have girls that are all different shapes and sizes. I would say my least favorite is #3. I am a little curvier and I know that I would feel self conscious about my stomach and my hips based on that cut.

are you set on all of them wearing the same dress? what if you had them choose between 2 dresses (or even maybe 3) I was thinking you could have them choose between the original halter and the long gray dress. It is pretty much the same fabric and that way the girls could just wear whatever looks best on them (especially because you said you have girls of different shapes/sizes)

I like the halter dress a lot if your bridesmaids all like it. I had two that refused to wear halters, so that was out. I’m having grey dresses as well, and one thing we found was that in chiffon or other matte fabric it kind of washed the girls out and looked blah. Grey’s a colour you have to be very careful with I think.

As a plus-sized girl, I voted for #2. My wedding dress is similar as is the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses my sister is considering. The cut is flattering to all sizes/shapes and it does an awesome job of hiding any tummy “issues” =)

@clarebee: I’m totally fine with them wearing different dresses, as long as they’re the same fabric and color (same shade of gray). I just don’t know if they would be willing to put in the work to find dresses–I guess I could ask them.
@sapphiresun: I didn’t think about the fact that a matte fabric might wash them out–that’s a good point! They only had the dress in a bright blue, so I didn’t get to see what the actual color would look like in chiffon, which was annoying.
Hmm, so it seems like most comments lean toward the halter/long strapless, but most voters lean toward the short dress! 🙂 I’m still so undecided…and my girls just say, “Pick whatever you want and we’ll wear it!”

I think you should consider using different styles for your girls if they are that varying in body type. I too have girls who range in height and body type, so I picked an empire waist dress for my pear shaped girls, and one that created curves for my little skinny minnies. My bridesmaids are all thrilled that I took the time to find a shapes that would be flattering for them rather than try to put them all in the same dress. However, if you do go with just one style, I love #2- I think the shape and the flowing material would be lovely on all your ladies.

I love #2! This is the exact style I want for my bridesmaids. I think it would be great on a variety of shapes.
