Here's my story: Fi and I have been together for 9 years, engaged for 3 months. We both just want to be married already, but are planning a wedding for July-intimate and laid back and fun. We decided to do a pre-wedding elopement mostly for insurance reasons and though that is not particularly romantic I will be damned if I don't look pretty and celebrate and create romance for this little courthouse rendevous (followed by dinner and wine and who knows). Here are my 3 best choices so far. I like a vintage look. * I have a light blue bolera sweater with a blue ribbon tie that I could with wear either light colored dress. OR I may try to get this beauty.
Option 1-Sweet 50s Prom look
Option 2- Pinup in white
I may try to find a simple cream form fitting dress to go with that shrug as well. I would love to keep the color light but Marilyn Monroe got married in brown at her courthouse wedding so I suppose anything goes!
All suggestions welcome!
Im a big retro fan too (I have an Ava Gardner pic :) I love the white dress, has the right amount of sexy and you would look amazing in that dress with beautiful bright/colorful shoes!
I'm torn between the sweet 50s prom look and the white pinup dress. You wear them both so well!
Love them both! You could wear the white pin-up dress for now and possibly save the flowy dress for your intimate July wedding. However, if you are planning on getting another dress for your July wedding then my vote goes for the flowy dress.
Honestly you can't go wrong with any of your choices. I think I like the cream dress the most, though.
Is the second dress Bettie Page? I LOVE that one! I want to get the green one for my shower.
They both look great on you, but I do prefer the first. Not sure how that cute bolero will match the blue on the first dress though.
Love your style, btw!
I love both of them.. The pinup one ( second dress ) - does scream " courthouse" While the first one is a romantic dress that has a really glamy/classy look to it and can of course be for a courthouse ceremony. Theyre both gorgoues, but I think the first one Is beautiful so thats my vote!
When I saw the first one I thought "Oh, a little too Prom" but then I saw the 2nd dress and I was like "Damn she looks GOOD in that!" I think the 2nd dress cuts in all the right places. It looks so fab on you.
I think they both look lovely. My vote would probably be for the second dress.
I'm a sucker for a white dress and the neckline of the third dress makes such a statement! It might be fun too, if you could replace the bow on the front and substitute a belt/bow that matches your shoes.
Definitely the second one. The first one felt a little prom, but the white one was all Wow. Plus it's white :)
I like the cream/blue dress the best. I love those blue shoes too!
@kaylee26: thank you so much. i am very happy for all this input because i actually feel a bit frumpy in the white dress-like an old nurse or something. lol.
@MissPumpkinPie: The first dress, believe it or not, was a thrift store find-$12. Believe me I was completely surprised to find it and I fell in love. I put a chiffon petticoat underneath for some oomph. I can tell you that the cream dress is made by B2 according to the tag and it is chiffon I think.
@mrscheetos: Yup, it's a Bettie Page Clothing dress. I have several from them-really love their clothes, they usually flatter my figure and they are comfy.
Thanks to everyone for all this input. I don't think we are going to courthouse until next month (tax purposes, geez) so I have a bit of time. May do an update with any more options I come up with, but you have all been super helpful!!
Gah! Love them both! First is more fun, but I do love the second. They both look amazing though, so again, can't lose.
Love them all! My fave is one, but so hard to choose! Since you look fab in all of them, how do you FEEL in them? Is there one that makes you squee with excitement!?
You look great in both, but I think you rock dress #2 the most. It makes you look great and works very well for your body.
Regardless of what you choose, you will look fab! Good luck and enjoy eloping!
I live them all, but I'm more of a fan for the pin up. Especially with the blue shoes. CUTE! ;o)
I love the first one! Both options are awesome but I think the first option gives the most vintage feel. The blue peeping out at the bottom of the dress is also very pretty!
I love the last one. It is amazing on you. You have the perfect figure for it.
They're both really pretty! I don't think you can go wrong with either. I'm a little partial to the pin up look. It works for a courthouse, but is also sassy.
@justelope: I feel really pretty and sweet (too sweet) in the first one and I think the full skirt helps minimize my waist-but it is also a bit tight at the bust and I'm self-conscious of backfat. The second one is the one I bought for the occasion but it didn't look quite like I imagined it would and it is so white it feels sterile. Of the Bettie Page dresses, I think it is the one that looks the worst on me. However, I am still willing to give it a chance since it was what my heart was set on and it DOES scream courthouse wedding. Maybe the right undergarments will do magic. :)
Thanks!!
Love the first dress with the fdark ur collared bolero. I don't like the blue shoes with the first one, the blues don't work together.
