I’m getting a Publix wedding and these are the flavors I can choose listed on their site:
Vanilla • Chocolate • Marble • Vanilla-Chocolate Combo • Carrot • Creme Cake
Buttercream • Cream Cheese • Fudge • Rolled Fondant
Raspberry • Lemon • Cherry • Vanilla Custard • Fresh Strawberries • Cannoli • German Chocolate • Chocolate Pudding. Additional flavors may be available upon request.
If you had to pick your cake from this, what combination would you create?

How many tiers are you going to be doing? We’re doing a three tier cake and even though we’re just eloping, we left it as it was going to be for our guests.
We did my favorite as a layer, his pick, and then a layer that we knew everyone would enjoy.
I would do one vanilla layer, one marble layer, and then a vanilla layer with chocolate pudding. All with buttercream frosting, because EVERYONE loves buttercream! Those are obviously just my picks, but I would recommend doing it in the fashion that we had set up so you can ensure everyone gets some cake that they enjoy.
Have fun creating. Publix cakes are AMAZING!

The vanilla cake with either vanilla custard or cannoli filling sound good to me! I like Publix cakes too.

What time of year is your wedding? If summer when the fruit is in season then I’d pick vanilla cake with buttercream and strawberries. If it’s in the fall, then maybe a carrot cake with cream cheese 🙂 Lemon also sounds refreshing. Chocolate pudding doesn’t sound very good to me…
And this is sort of my personal opinion: You have to be careful with fruit fillings sometimes though, they can get mushy or if the fruit isn’t the best it can ruin the cake. My cousin had banana filling and it was mushy and gross… But when the strawberries are red and juicy then it’s my favorite!

Chocolate cake with cannoli filling and buttercream!

I’d do vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and lemon filling, but lemon vanilla is one of my favourite things.

I am a lover of vanilla cake, so I would probably do vanilla with raspberry for one layer, marble with vanilla custard and creme cake with canolli filling, all with buttercream icing.

@everyheart: Ask for raspberry elegance. It’s a white cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. Yum! We are ordering that plus red velvet.

Those are all good-sounding combinations! It looks like vanilla cake and buttercream frosting are the winners 🙂 I wonder if I can ask to taste the different fillings with the vanilla cake. I’ll see if I can do two separate flavors for the different layers, too.

@everyheart: We are getting our cake from Publix and I’m so excited someone else is, too!! Do you mind giving me the website you are using? We are getting married in Savannah and live in a state that does not have Publix. I haven’t been able to find anything with flavors, only cake styles…unless I missed it.
What style are you doing?
I would choose vanilla with cream cheese frosting, no filling. I love grocery store cake and it’s always been what I wanted…a wedding cake from a grocery store because no independent bakery cake has ever really impressed me. Blame all the boxed cake I love. =)

@Coral99: Publix cake is my all-time favorite, so I was excited when I heard they did wedding cakes! Here is the page that explains the flavors: http://www.publix.com/food/weddings/HowToOrder.do
I’m thinking of doing “Enchanted Ruffle” or “Popped the Question” without the flowers, how about you?

Enchanted Ruffle is new!! They didn’t have that as of Jan/Feb. I like that one and it has now become my first choice. =)
Originally I liked Celebrate with Style, minus the crown, with the decoration done either in white or ivory. My second choice was Dazzling Commitment but I would request just one medallion/ribbon decoration, at the bottom, change ribbon to white and then have our topper.
I’m sooo excited to see ER! FI and I were just looking at flavors and we think we will keep it pretty simple…vanilla with buttercream or creamcheese. I honestly don’t care…I just like cake. Hahaha.
EDIT: I just saw you can have them color the icing. This brings about a whole new world of possibility. It is not beyond me to do a turquoise cake with rose red roses or a white cake with turquoise roses. I don’t have a “color” but those are my favorite and they might go with our flowers nicely. We are using a brightly colored teacup with a single while bloom in it as our topper. It might be nice to add a little color.

Vanilla with strawberries and buttercream frosting. 🙂
