I think your right about the purple and gold looking "lakerish"
I love the idea of purple and emerald. I think you could do it without making it look like a peacock. Just stay away from feathers :D
Blush pink, turqouse and antique gold. Im hoping it doesn't look to washed out at the beach.
Ill probably change my mind in a few weeks lol

Here are some colorboards that I found with purple and emerald

@HoneyBear: this is why we are weddingbee besties (ok maybe only in my head, haha). I love those boards!
Your colors are perfect for a beach wedding! Love them!
EDIT: Reread your post and you don't want anything associated with peacock, AT ALL so nevermind that inspiration board.

Or just use a lot of purple and fresh greenery to embrace your puple and emerald without looking like a peacock :)
Either way, I love the purple and emerald!
I was in a wedding this summer that was purple and a clover green color. I was skeptical when she first told me the colors, but it looked beautiful. I am all for emerald and aubergine!
@HoneyBear: I love these boards!
Re: reminding people of Mardi Gras, I think this combo of aubergine and a green that I would say is more 'apple' than 'emerald' is less Mardi Gras than than aubergine and emerald. But also remember that as long as you're not giving out beads or wearing feathery masks, no one will mention Mardi Gras. :)
I prefer the combo with apple green myself, because it gives a bit of variety in the tone - it's not dark-dark, it is dark-light. That's totally a personal preference though.
I did purple and yellow for my June wedding. I didn't think it was Lakers-ish, and I actually live in LA! :)

@ddubbz- That is really gorgeous, but it does kind of just a little make me think Lakers, even with as beautiful as it is. We are really sports people though.
Well, I love purple. So, you're off to a great start there! Your ring, absolutely divine, and that color is very nice as well. I do think touches of gold/yellow here and there would make things pop. Try mixing and matching swatches....you'll be surprised to find what colors actually compliment each other....good luck doll!
I really dont think that purple and yellow remind me of the lakers...I think that ddbuzz's wedding looked amazing. I also think that purple and emerald would look really pretty also.
@Aubergold:I like the colors but you could consider different shades. I like the purplee and yellow best. But not dark purple and dark yellow. I'm thinking yellow that matches yellow roses and eggplant. Maybe you can add some accents of white to soften it. Your weddding is in May and your colors will look great. You can avoid the Laker look by choosing the perfect shade.
You ladies are the best! It looks like purple/emerald is winning out. Bumping for the Saturday crowd.
It sounds like we're going to be wedding twins! I'm having a non-peacocky purple and green wedding, and happen to have an emerald e-ring as well. :D However, I'm having an outdoor Sunday wedding, so my colors will be softer and I'll go for a more natural palette. Purple is a color that's found in a lot of flowers/plants, and green is everywhere in nature, so they naturally work well together. If you go for those colors, you can do a lot with flowers!
Purple & green. Yellow & purple not so much, but when you said gold...that sounded a lot better. I never even thought "Lakers". I LOVE emeralds -they are my birthstone!
I'm doing purple and green myself, with cream and chocolate accents. The cream is to break up the dark colors, and the chocolate is because my venue has bark everywhere, so I'm choosing to embrace it. (It's very rustic). I think aubergine and emerald would look great, just use an editing eye (as Tim Gunn would say) to make sure it doesn't become too much. If an arrangement or outfit is looking too dark or peacock-ish, you can add another more neutral color to break it up a little. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I think the shades of the colors you use would determine if it looked Laker-ish or Mardi Gras-ish.
Aubergine is really a dark purple, not the color I'd associate with the Lakers or Mardi Gras. I think aubergine would go well with an emerald green, or any shade of green, really. If you include all three colors, you will totally avoid the Laker-ish feel. Or you can use a more more metallic gold color for accents.
I atually can't decide as I change my mind depending on which colour inspiration board i'm looking at as they all look great My faves are HoneyBear's and ILikePink's boards. I thought the aubergine and green would look peacock themed but HoneyBear's board doesn't look it at all as it's a bright green. I hear you about 'The Lakers' colours' but if you use a yellow like ILikePink shows it doesn' make me think of 'The Lakers' at all. Go with your heart ;)
I'm dong lavender and yellow, with dark red accents. I think if you stay away from Laker purple, or add an accent color, purple and yellow can be really great :)

For the longest time I figured my wedding would be jewel toned purple (aubergine) and golden yellow (marigold); hence my username. Now im having second thoughts that this will look too LA Lakerish. I was thinking maybe doing Aubergine and Emerald. My e-ring is an emerald and it might be cute to incorporate that color as well. Here is a gratuitous ring shot cause yes I am that wack and shameless I will post that sucka everywhere:
Anyways....what so y'all think? The only thing with the purple and emerald is it might look too peacock-ish? Im not sure. I DO NOT want a peacock themed wedding at all. As you can tell I like bright bold colors so no lavender or sage green or lime or anything like that.
