Im getting married this saturday and im finalising readings at the moment.
So far we have got
A parents prayer
He never leaves the toilet seat up
and i need to finalise the reading to be made my FIs younger brother (J) (19). He didnt want to choose one for himself, and i had recently read this lovely blog post called ‘marriage isnt for you’. I absolutely loved it and so did FI so we decided we want to incorporate this into his reading as we havent found any others we liked.
The blog post is largely about how the guys grandfather tells him that marraige isnt about him, its about the other person. Its quite specific though so we couldnt get J to read that out, but figured we could write something ourselves based on this blog post, so that he will be able to read it.
The main part we would like included is :
marriage isn’t for you. You don’t marry to make yourself happy, you marry to make someone else happy. More than that, your marriage isn’t for yourself, you’re marrying for a family. Not just for the in-laws and all of that nonsense, but for your future children. Who do you want to help you raise them? Who do you want to influence them? Marriage isn’t for you. It’s not about you. Marriage is about the person you married.”
Im just trying to think of a paragraph or so to put before this and after to make it make sense, and to introduce that paragraph. Im happy to mention its part of a blog post, but i really think it says exactly what we want it to say.
Please help me to put this into a reading! Or alternatively if you have readings to suggest that are similar to this, please suggest them!
Thanks bees 🙂 Xx
