Finally, finally, we have most things sqaure away with the wedding, including the groom and his groomsmen. I had originally wanted them to just go with suits, but we ended up choosing to rent gray tuxedos, minus a vest and cummerbund to keep the look a little less formal (we’re having a small destination wedding in Las Vegas). Anyway, my question: I had pictured Fiance wearing a black tie with his suit, and the groomsmen wearing gray and yellow, mismatching-but-complementing ties (our wedding colors). Now that we’re doing tuxes instead of suits:
- would it be strange for the groomsmen to wear mismatching ties?
- If not, would cotton ties be a no-no or alright? I found these very fun ones on Etsy that I’m digging, but nearly everything I’m finding is cotton.
I would appreciate any and all advice!

I LOVE this idea! And our groomsmen will be wearing mismatched ties, but all with purple in them.

Keep in mind there are many different types of cotton so I would say a crafting cotton no way but a higher end batik or designer quilting cotton would be awsome.

@naturalysam: That is a very good thing to keep in mind! Thank you for the advice.

I lovelovelove the idea of mismatched ties for the groomsmen! Especially if they all wear matching tuxedos. It would be fun and whimsical and awesome. Go for it!

I think it’ll be fine! I actually wanted to do something similar for our wedding, though the boys might only be wearing the vest/pants/shirt. I was going to have Fiance in a black tie and the others in mismatched pink patterned ties.

Thanks ladies… you’re giving me the gutso to go for it! 🙂
