I am looking for ideas that are local to Philly to put in my OOT boxes

    Tastykakes

    Herrs Chips

    Goldberg Peanut Chews

    Wissahickon Water

    Hershey Kisses

    Root Beer

    Wawa

Anyone know of anything else I can put in the boxes?

You could do snyder's of hanover pretzels?  I know it's not EXACTLY philly... but you know!  You could also do coupons to Pat's or Gino's (or Delessandro's since it's better anyways!!).

I definitely would try to get the pretzels in there.

You could take pictures of local landmarks or historical parts of the city... turn them into cards and write a thank you note or welcome note for each basket. We are including maps and info on things to do in the area too.

Ahh, there's nothin' like a Federal pretzel. I think the Federal Pretzel bakery is still there at 7th and Federal in South Philly. You could probably just go straight to the Federal Pretzel bakery and pick them up yourself like the day before (you can just walk right in and get them hot and fresh). If you can't pick them up in person, here's the link to order online and have them shipped to you. People order these from all over, so they can't go stale that fast. Check it out... http://www.federalpretzel.biz/. These ship from NJ, but they are still Federal pretzels- they must just have a facility in Jersey where they ship bulk orders. Hope this helps!

You have to do pretzels and Tastykakes! My girlfriend did it for all her guest who stayed in the city overnight and it was a huge hit! I think she may have used Snyder prestzels because she was concerned that the soft ones wouldn't be fresh. She included bottle water with her own label too.

Love all these ideas!  Please keep them coming.  The Sweetzels spiced wafers are Philly? I never knew that.  Thanks for the link to Federals!  Oh how I miss all these places now, living in Chester County.

Who is the chip guy that used to come door to door?  I believe they sell them in the stores, is it Charlies or something like that?

Yeah, Charlie's Chips. I'm pretty sure Sweetzels are made in Skippack- which is technically in the Philly burbs- Montgomery County- but still- it counts! :)

I am also making Philly OOT bags so I am totally jazzed about this topic. On our wedding website I also have a whole page dedicated to popular Philly tourist attractions. I love Philly. :)

Skippack is right next to me.  Close enough to Philly! Our guest come from the mid west.  So, some of this is new to them!

We didn't move to Philly from the mid west until I was in 5th grade so I was unfamiliar with Charlie's Chips but I know people talk about them sometimes.

I like the idea of the attractions, such as someone noted to make a thank you post card from the pictures!  That was an awesome idea, thanks Allyser!

frank's black cherry wishniak soda! and maybe chocolate covered pretzels from asher's in germantown, you could bag a few in cellophane. the pennsylvania general store in reading terminal mkt has a ton of great foods from the philly area, good for shopping as well as inspiration.

    1. Peanut Chews
    2. Wawa Iced Tea
    3. If the hotel rooms have fridges, you can add in some local beers (i.e. Yards, Philadelphia Brewing Company, Victory, Flying Fish, even Yuengling)

I was just at a local wedding this past weekend (but I stayed in a hotel anyway), and OOT bags had Tastykakes, Snyder's of Hanover pretzel nuggets (not Philly, but PA), fresh-baked cookies, and bottled water, as well as some Advil, Emergen-C, and some other stuff.

I forgot all about Charlie's Chips. Great memories!

A suggestion for pretzels, have them wrapped fresh without salt... and they will last longer. The salt dries the pretzel out. My vendor is wrapping them with a salt and mustard packet.

I would definitely include maybe a Philly focused post card, or even small liberty bell ornament, etc.
