I don’t have any good advice, but as someone who always seems to have my period at the most inconvenient time (vacations, holidays, birthday, you name it… I’m on it) I just want to say, I feel you girl! I’d also love to hear some suggestions.

capriciouskat:  Having it for the wedding stinks 🙁 however for the honeymoon is there any reason you cant do water sports while your on your period…?

How heavy/long is your period? Since your on Mirena IDK if you can take BC in addition to it to delay it, so you might just have to deal 🙁

Definitely birth control! I found out that my period was going to land on my honeymoon so I switched when I took the pills for one month and now it lands after my honeymoon! Also you could consistently take the pills and not take the white pills and you won’t have one at all!

capriciouskat:  I know BCP will stop your period, I took 2 packs back to back this summer. But, from my expereince you need to be taking it for a few months for it to ‘skip’ your period. You’ll probably still have some breakthrough bleeding, but it won’t be as heavy as a normal period, still annoying though. Good luck! I hope they can find something that works for you!

Shower sex, ocean sex, sex with a towel on top of the sheets, tampons. 😉

I am not sure if it is the best idea to use birth control pills when you already have a hormonal IUD in place, but even if you do, it is VERY common to have light bleeding/spotting when you start using birth control pills, so I am not sure if this method to delay your period will work at all. It usually takes some time for you body to get used to any hormonal type of birth control, and I personally don’t think it is worth messing with it just to maybe delay your period – nobody can guarantee you that the pill will do this at all.

I know you said tampons are uncomfortable, but have you ever looked into a menstruation cup, like the Diva Cup (there are other brands too)? It works for up to 12 hours at a time and it completely safe to use in water, even better because a tampon will soak up water too, while the cup will not. I do not know how comfortable it is, I have never used it, but it might be worth to look into it.

I am not sure if you can take birth control while on Minerva, but if so that will probably do the trick. I have some bleeding issues so I take the pill back to back without the week of sugar pills so I dont get my period. Obviousy consult with your doctor before doing that, but my doctors have assured me that it’s fine to take packs back to back and skip your period.

I used to take low-estrogen birth control pills with my Implanon. Is Minerva progesterone-releasing only like Implanon? I did a quick google and it seemed like it was. My doctor said it was fine because one was estrogen and the other was progesterone. I was actually taking it to stabilize my hormones.

For me, my period was fairly light to begin with and I was able to control my period without break-through bleeding. You’d have to try it and see for yourself. At this point, I think it’s the best you can do and just hope it holds off until afterwards. I would suspect that any breakthrough bleeding would be lighter and shorter than a regular period though.

Yes the Pill should work if you can take it. Start taking it right away. Have a period next month. Then skip the sugar pills over your wedding. I skip periods a few times a year with the pill. But it’s not reccomended to skip more than one or two in a row.

This is something that should be possible alright, it depends on what you’re taking but hopefully your healthcare providers will be able to sort this out for you. I wish you luck with it, I got my period on Day (freakin) 1 of our honeymoon. I wasn’t actually due until the following week, what a time to be a week early!
