@Laurengrapes:  Oh, sweetie, you don’t want to get into this. Diamond vs. moissanite always turns nasty on these boards. They’re very different and equally beautiful stones. If you really want a diamond and want it to look exactly like a diamond (which moissanite does not), get a diamond.

Moissanites are less expensive but they’re still quite pricey. I believe the cushion cut moissanite for my ring will be around $500. They have a double-refractive sparkle, which is very different from the white light flash of diamonds, it shoots off rainbows, which I personally love.

@Laurengrapes:  Like PP said, it ALWAYS turn ugly when the great D vs M debate gets started.  Please monitor this thread and close it as soon as things turn south.

I am on Team Moissanite.  I had a 1/2c Moissy in my original e-ring and just got a 1.25c 5 year anniversary ring.  If you want something to look exactly like a diamond, don’t get a Moissanite.  They look very similar and I think that 99% of the population would never know.  But Moissy does sparkle quite a bit more.  You could definitely put a Moissy wedding band next to a diamond e-ring.  Moissy is significantly cheaper, but to see specific pricing, browse here http://www.moissaniteco.com.  I hope that helps.  Feel free to PM me!

I’m going to add that you might want to consider closing this thread now, before anything gets crazy. People who prefer Moissy prefer Moissy. People who prefer diamond prefer diamond. It’s a personal preference. There is no “better” or “worse”.

You could get a pair of stud earrings or loose stone (moissaniteco.com is amazing) if you want to look at it without committing to a ring.

@Laurengrapes:  I think a moissanite eternity band would look lovely with a diamond ring, and you’ll save a good amount of money. The smaller the stones are, the more similar the sparkle looks to diamonds. The larger the stone, the more pronounced the rainbow flashes of light.

@Laurengrapes:  Moissanites do not look like diamonds, but some (most) people just can’t tell the difference between two sparkly white stones.

They do look just fine together! I have seen several engagement settings that have moissanite center stones and diamonds as side stones, and they are beautiful.

A moissanite wedding band would probably be quite affordable, since moissanite is generally priced by the size of the stone and any color enhancements people might want (but with smaller stones, color enhancements definitely are not necessary).

Best of luck with whatever you choose!

Such a shame that a fellow bee can’t even ask for some info. It’s always the same people with the same comments.

@als1214:  Was that referring to us or the people who notoriously make these threads unpleasant? I think we gave her quite useful information.

I hate this topic, it’s never not a can of worms.

OP if you do a search on Moissy v Diamond, you’ll find tons of info and opinions from both sides. There are a bunch of threads on this you can get info from.
