Its all about compromise. Its his wedding too. Sounds like you need a grooms cake.

My first thought was a groom’s cake! Could he do a white cake with a small, tasteful red logo on it? It wouldn’t clash for long because it would get eaten..

Mrswain: A groom’s cake would be a really fun idea. Or if you were doing a photo booth, some props in the team colors or sports related could be cute. Are there any theme songs related to soccer you could use somehow (I’ve head of people using the NFL theme song for a reception entrance song)

You could add a little thing to his bout, he could wear team socks under his outfit, you could get him special cuff links if he’s wearing them. You could incorporate something small into your bouquet. There are a lot of ways to incorporate small things for personalization.

Mrswain: I know I don’t know either on of you, or the whole story, but if he just wants one thing, let him have it. So what if it doesn’t go with your theme? You can just have a separate cake made for him that way you still get the simple cake you wanted. Making your SO happy is a lot more important than getting your way on everything. My FI has a lot of ideas for the wedding I think are kinda… stupid… But I want him to be included and I want him to be happy, so we’ve just had to compromise on some things. No biggie 🙂

Yellow and red go together fine. The guys can have red ties or red bouttineres. You can carry a red rose in your bouquet. Red table numbers styled similar to the Man-U logo. use the Man-U font on your invites or escort cards. It is absolutely his wedding too and it’s important to let him have some say.

pS the Man-U logo itself is red and yellow!

if your having a late night snack maybe you can have sports themed table and snacks such as chips, sliders etc like in the picture. Usually by the time late night snack comes out everyone is in full party mode and the dj lights are on so it won’t matter if it doesn’t match the room colors anymore

Mrswain:

Even if it’s just the colors, that could be fun! Party City here in the US has tons of color specific stuff…beads, hats, sunglasses, bowties, suspenders, headbands, wigs, megaphones, bandanas, glow bracelets and more! I’d have to imagine there’s something similar in the UK?

http://www.partycity.com/ Click on Team Colors

If he has extra jerseys or other “gear” he’d be up for putting in there (knowing it might get damaged/lost) that could be fun, too!

Even a soccer ball or other soccer gear could be fun!

Mrswain: it’s not THE wedding cake. The groom’s cake is a separate cake.
