I like the three-stone the best. Maybe she could try on bands that have some design to them, like diamond cutting, for sparkle.
Hmm...tough decision because all the options are gorgeous! I know that when I went ring shopping, what I thought I wanted changed slightly when I started trying rings on!
If she loves the eternity band, what if she got double wedding bands with the solitaire e-ring? Then one could be the eternity band and one could be a simple gold band, placed on either side of the e-ring. On the other hand, she could just get insurance for the eternity ring and e-ring and then if something did happen, she wouldn't have to worry about replacing or fixing it!
If she doesn't like the look of the wedding band with the 3-stone, she may not want to get the 3-stone after all. Ultimately she has to think about what she wants to wear for the rest of her life!
I wouldn't get the 1ct if it is out their price range - get a beautiful ring that isn't going to break the bank.
Hmm, I love the three stone, but I think the diamond eternity band with it would just be too much. Also if she want to wear her ring while gardening and traveling it doesn't make sense to have something that might get lost or damaged. Personally I take my ring off to garden and I have a $35 cubic zirconia I travel with, but that is because I would be devestated if anything happened to this ring. Seriously, my heart would be broken.
If she really wants an eternity band (and I think she should get what she wants!), then I like the second picture. The engagement ring and eternity wedding band look more balanced than in the third picture (those two look too similar in size... the second picture really has the solitaire pop!). You could try to get a 3/4 carat ring or get an eternity band with smaller diamonds. Just play around with the sizes until you get something that meshes, but I think the overall style is a winner.
She should also just take her ring off when she gardens/travels. There is no need to wear it 24/7. My mother always took her jewelry off and left it in her bedroom.
Thanks guys! She is actually sitting next to me now but too shy to post haha!
@Misskatelyn the second picture is actually a 1ct ring and the third is the 1/2ct, but it's amazing how much of a small difference it is!
@dance she tried a plain band stacked with the e-ring and the eternity but it was just too much. But it's true that insurance means that she needn't be so worried.
I personally love the solitare with the eternity band. Classic and beautiful. I also would agree that trying rings on is just like trying dresses on. You may LOVE how a ring looks on someone else or in the jewlry case but you may change your mind once it is on your hand. I thought I wanted a halo or pave setting but I ended up falling in love with a soltiare engraved band. I just felt like it was more "me". A year later and I am still in love with my engagement ring.
I love the three stone. I may be partial to it b/c I have one ;-)! I am going with a very thin platinum plain band with mine. I think it looks low key with the plain band. I was thinking about a shared setting 1/4 or 1/2 ct band (not eternity) with the three stone and it was too flashy for me.
For me, I don't like eternity bands b/c I don't want the diamonds on the underside of my finger.
Good luck!
I love the solitare and in yellow gold! girl after my own heart (i have a yellow gold solitare also!) - ooo you should add a poll to the post!
Good luck and congrats to your friend!
The three stone is very similar to mine, and I just lvoe it! But, it's such an individual thing. It's whatever she loves, and will want to wear the rest of her life!
I prefer the look of a solitaire as opposed to a three-stone setting. But clearly it's up to her!!
I don't like 3-stone sets personlly but i do like the 1 ct+band the best, but if it's out of their budget, that happens. What about the 1/2 carat stone with a thinner gold setting? it'd help the diamond pop a little more.
Also if she likes 3 stone sets but is worried about the metal, you could have little pave stones put on the sides to take away the metal look. you could do two very thin diamond bands that contour the 3-stone set as wedding bands too!
ok guys I've added a poll! Thanks for all your advice.
@ejs4y8 I think she would like the idea of 2 thin pave bands thats a good idea. The shop where we saw the 3-stone had a very bad choice of eternity rings but I'm sure she could find some elsewhere.
@yumi87 the eternity band is actually a half-eternity so there are no diamonds on the underside.
I love the solitaire with eternity band. I've always loved the way they look together.
I'm a little biased because I have a three stone ring (and I LOVE it). My wedding band is similar to the eternity band. I've asked several jewelers their suggestions on a wedding band to go with my ring, and the two suggestions have been for an eternity band or a plain band. I happen to love the look of a three stone ring with an eternity band.
@texasmeredith do you think that particular eternity ring would be too overpowering for the 3 stone? She loves both seperately but couldn't try them together because they are from different stores... but we both think it might be too much.
I love the three stone, and a girl can't have too many diamonds ;) go for the eternity band with the three stone, thats what I'm doing!
I think a three stone with an eternity band would look beautiful! However, I'd probably go for either a shared-prong or a channel set style eternity band, just because the styles are so different between the three-ring and the eternity band you've shown us. Although I'm sure they'd look great together anyway. :)

Went shopping with my best friend for e-rings today! Very exciting and fun! Basically she really wanted a 3-stone ring which we found and she loved (see below) but then we went to another store and saw the most beautiful eternity band! She tried it on with a 1ct solitaire and a 1/2ct hearts on fire in yellow gold. She definitely wants a yellow gold ring but they didn't have the 1ct in yellow gold. Soooo... which do you think looks best?
We both love the 1ct with the eternity band but I think the 1ct is out of their budget and the 1/2ct doesn't quite have the same effect (the ring she tried on was also too big for her as you can see which I think also ruins the effect a bit)
Originally she wanted a 3 stone e-ring like the one below with a plain 2mm yellow gold band but she tried it on (no pics) and she thought it showed a bit too much metal. Do you think the 3-stone would look good with the eternity band or would it be too much? The thing she is also worried about is that on days when she just wants to wear her wedding band (when gardening/travelling etc) the diamond eternity will be too precious. She also loves the idea (and look) of a very thin gold wedding band, but doesn't LOVE it with the 3-stone.
Any advice?
