I am searching for the maker of this dress (attached). My search for the dream dress has become a heartbreaking situation. Can you guys help me???
I saw this dress in a display window at the local mall. I was told by a local bridal salon (upstate NY) that sells it that it was a 2BeBride dress. What made me suspicious at first was that the dress was not listed on the 2Be Bride website or their catalog. I later found out the salon lied to me for three months about the designer!
After this run-around I do NOT want to buy from this local salon. I refuse to reward that by buying the dress through them. If I can find this dress elsewhere I will buy it, but I have NO clue who makes it now...
Thank you for listening. I feel so drained when this should be a happy time. If I have to give up the dress of my dreams so I don't give that salon money then its the right thing to do, however painful it is.
Thanks for listening!
Nicole
Can you go to 'try on' the dress and read its tags in the dressing room? Or call and ask the salon which lines they sell? That would help narrow down the search a little bit.
Thanks for responding, Cheerful!
I have tried both:
1> The salon rips the original manufacturer's tags out of the dresses so you can't find the dress anywhere else...
2>On their web site they say they sell "exclusive lines" and when you call they repeat the same line of bull. The only way you know is if you go onto a random designer's web site and search for the salon's name. Very frustrating!
Thanks for the suggestions!
Nicole
Are you sure they lied? You don't specify how you found out they lied...if it's just because you can't find the dress other places there's a couple things to consider...
Many dress websites only have the most recent few season's dresses online, while the salons will have dresses dating from further back. This can also happen in reverse if the salon has the most recent dresses (usually would be from a trunk show though, not the store's regular stock). The absolute latest dresses may not be up on the site yet. I would think, though, in either of these cases that the dress would be in the catalog still.
Also, some designers will make a few dresses exclusively for a specific salon. Those dresses you won't find on the designer's webpage or in their catalog or in other salons. You could try and confirm with the designer if this is the case. Most are very open about this.
Thanks Gasiaraine!
I know they lied because I contacted 2BeBride corporate with the same photo and they told me so. Plus, I contacted three other salons which sell the line and they all confirmed what I found.
The salon is just point blank dishonest. I would never accuse anyone without proper research, but thanks for the perspective!

I can't help you find it and i'm sorry about that. I just wanted to say that dress is beautiful and I really hope you can find it somewhere less evil!
That's too bad :(
I was throwing out those suggestions hoping it would help narrow your search...not so much to defend the company...they're already on the bad list for ripping out tags. :)
I tend to surf wedding dress pics so if I come across this I'll let you know.
No problem, I understood where you were coming from!
Thanks for keeping an eye out! I appreciate it so much!

Gorgeous dress! I can see why you like it. I hate when dress shops do that kind of thing; it's illegal. I wouldn't want to deal with them either, if I were you.
I couldn't find that specific dress, but it reminded me of some Allure dresses I've seen (and drooled over). They have a few gowns that have that style of beading. Have you had a look at their website?
Good luck! I hope you find it, and when you do, be sure to write a note to that shop telling them how they lost your business.
Allure and Private Label by G both have similar. Also the dress with green in the background looks like an Alfred Angelo or Morilee. For you dress, was the embroidery over lace? FYI, Private Label's website is pretty confusing...look under their bridal line though (it'll make sense when you're on the site).
Also, have you tried googling the name of the salon and seeing who comes up? If a designer sells to them, you may see their website come up. Just a thought.
Shnoogles,
Thanks for the suggestion and yes, I have been on Allure with no luck.
And, yes, I did write the salon a very direct e-mail letting them know I would tell all my friends about their level of honest to upstate NY brides....hope they got the hint!
I've been told by other birdal salons that this salon might have bought the dress from some random manufacturer in China for 100 bucks and lied so they could sell it for $1600. If that is so I'll never find this dress...
Nicole
@Brose: I'm from Albany as well. Could you PM me with the name of the salon? I'm interested to know which one it is.
Also, I bought my dress from a great bridal shop and I'd be happy to PM you the name if you would like to know.
Maisymay,
Thanks for the help! PL by G confirmed it was not there dress, though I might by one from them if I can't find this one and its not an Allure.
I tried to google the salon but it just listed many advertisements. Good idea though, I'll keep trying!
Nicole
I tried to find this dress but I had no luck. However I did find some that are similar by private label! Good luck finding your dress. I hope I have helped.
They rip the tags out? Ew!! I am totally behind you in your boycott! Make sure you post a review on yelp.com too.
Yelp them and also, you ought to report them to the Better Business Bureau. This is terribly dishonest and horrid.
Prettylady - THANKS SO MUCH! Great choices!
Cheerful and Maisymay - I posted on yelp.com and I would like to BBB her ASAP! Anyone know if you can get sued by sharing your true experiences???
THANKS LADIES!!!!!!!!!!
Can't be sued for telling the truth. It's not slander, it's truth. They need to know because the salon is breaking the law.
Not that this would happen, but . . .
Technically you can be sued for liable or slander; however, truth is an affirmative defense to the claims for defamation.
You can get it recreated by Milly bridal. Send them the piccture of it. They might of got it made in china and torn the tag off to sell it for more.

sorry you have to deal with this. It is a beautiful dress.
i guess i am perplexed WHY they lied to you about the designer - they gain nothing from it. If they didn't want to give it out, they should have just said so. You could always go to the store, ask them to try it on, and find out the designer from the dress that way, and not purchase from there...
It could be a 2be dress. My dress is 2be and it is not listed on the website. I discovered it at a trunk show. I actually cannot find a picture online anywhere. But it is from a VERY reputable bridal salon and I saw the tag and everything. It seems that the 2be website isn't updated that frequently. See if you can catch a trunk show. It could be there. How long ago did you see it?
I kinda think it looks like a casablanca dress but i'm not an expert!
Thanks ladies!
To answer some questions:
Miss. Skinner - It's not a 2BeBride - I e-mailed corporate and they told me so. PLus, I did attend a truck show and they confirmed it as well.
Ellenphant - Going there to try the dress on doesn't work since the owner rips the original tags out, giving you no idea who makes it. They do gain something from lying - if you don't know who makes it you are not able to comparision shop, and I don't know about you, but in this economy I have to...
This salon owner just thought she wouldn't get caught.
Mrscingle2be - I checked with Casablanca and no luck! But thanks!
This experience has shown me the underbelly of the bridal world - I hope you all have better experiences then I.
Thanks again for all your help!
Nicole
Does the bridal salon have a website listing the designers it carries? That could be a start. I swear I have seen this dress or something similar before. I am just trying to figure it out. I will let you know if I come up with anything.
On their web site they say they sell "exclusive lines" and when you call them directly they repeat the same line of bull. The only way you know is if you go onto a random designer's web site and search for the salon's name. Very frustrating!
Thanks for keeping an eye out! This mystery is killing me!!!!!!
You can report them for ripping tags out, that is not allowed.

Scroll down a little.
I have no idea who makes the dress, I just wanted to say I'm sorry you're dealing with a stressful situation.
I could have sworn I saw this in Eden Bridal before -but couldn't find it on their website...however they have a lot of similar styles the simple A-line (I use the word simple to describe no pleats, pick ups or ruching) with beads and stone patterns.
Maybe give you can check it out? Sorry if you already did though...could be an older or newer style?
Good luck!
Thanks frozen yogurt! It sucks but i'm getting some great help here!
Anniephd - I think i looked there but it doesn't hurt to double check! Thanks for the suggestion!
Nicole
Have you checked out eve of milady?? They have some similar designs!
Lovespearls - Yes, I have - even drove so far as NJ to Brides by Roma to check out the entire collection - no luck!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Nic
