@KennedysueC: I assume you’re talking about NYC- What part of the city are you going to be in? FIs suggrestion is La Grenouille (french) or Corton (french- both offer a tasting menu around 100-125pp.) Balthazar is beautiful and on the less expensive side of expensive. Locanda Verde is pretty inside also (probably cheapest of those I listed.)
If you give me a better idea of where you’re staying, I can give better suggestions!

@KennedysueC: After our civil ceremony we went to Bobo in the West Village (although we were with my parents, his parents and our witnesses.) So it wasn’t romantic but Bobo can be quite romantic – it’s an old townhouse.
If you want heavy romance I’ve been to One if By Land, Two if By Sea (a lot of proposals happen there.)
Waverly Inn also has some charm and is quite beautiful. Grammercy Tavern isn’t as intimate but has excellent food.
There is another bride on this board who is also eloping and going to Little Owl. It’s a little more casual than the options I just listed but the food is wonderful.
If you want something really modern and chic, the Modern Restaurant at the MoMa fits the bill.

@KennedysueC: I’m not sure you’ll blend in anywhere in a wedding dress :)) Have fun! Sounds like a great elopement idea!!

New York City is the center of the food universe (I know, a little exaggeration) and they will be very accomodating to your “let’s make it an elopmenet mini dinner” requests.
When I plan dinners for my elopement clients I tell them that the first thing they can do is Yelp the top restaurante within their budget, cuisine, and ambiance. After they narrow it down to two or three choices; we can call them up and check out what accomodations can be arranged.
Good luck and congrats!
