I totally understand where you're coming from! But relax! This time, just take as many shopping trips as you need. Go in there knowing you may not find "the one" for awhile.
If there is a dress you love, then take the picture in. Otherwise, I'd go and describe what you like, but ask them to bring other styles as well. It may give you a better idea of what you like, and even if you try on say, a mermaid that's not white and sparkly, you might learn that you love how mermaids look on you, and then you'll have something to go off of.
Good luck, and keep us updated!
I had no pictures and NO CLUE of what I wanted. So I just started trying on dresses and the 4th one was the winner! I think you should just explain what you like but have an open mind to try a few different looks on. Have Fun!!
Well I'd start by trying one of each silhouette on and then just go from there (I even tried on a ballgown even though I KNEW I didn't want one... because when else would I get to put on a huge white ballgown?). As you try on more dresses you'll get an idea for what you like and what looks good on you. Above all, have fun with it!
It's never a bad thing to look online or in magazines in advance and get an idea of what you like! When I went dress shopping we started at David's Bridal. I showed them a couple of photos and they went off to pick out similar dresses. They also let mom and I wander around and pick things off the rack to try. Mom brought a camera and each time I tried on a dress she took a picture. This way I could look back at the photos and see what they looked like on me in comparison to one another.
After DB we had a much better idea of what looks good and what felt good on. From there we went to other bridal shops and boutiques and concentrated solely on the styles we had narrowed it down to at DB.
There is no right and wrong way to go dress shopping, but this is what worked for me! Good luck-- I know you'll find the perfect dress!
I agree with the pps . . . try on at least one of every silhouette, figure out what makes you weak in the knees (A-lines and Mermaids and Ball Gowns, oh my!), and go from there!
Have fun - and keep us posted!
i agree with everyone else! take plenty of pictures as well!! i'm so excited for you btw wp!!

Ok, so I am going dress shopping on Saturday and I have no clue what to do. I don't know for sure what style I want or anything. The only thing I do know is that I want it white and sparkly. Do I need to print out pics of ones I like or write down style numbers of the ones I like?? I have been married before but my dress was awful. It was only 125 bucks and I bought it off the rack. This time around, I want the dress of my dreams because I am marrying the man of my dreams. Oh man, I sound corny!
