My girls are all wearing Bari Jay dresses same color same fabric but any style they want. I am having them wear all the same shoes to help tie it all together. This pic isn't me, but one of my inspiration pics.
I would try to keep them as matching as possible, honestly. At first, I let my girls choose a dress, I told them "black, conservative classy cocktail dress." For me, it was a disaster! My MOH got something with ruffles and her breasts showing. I ended up picking out a dress, having them all get it- and buying it for my MOH. Sorry if this doesn't help, but I guess I just feel your pain. Good luck!
We're going the same fabric/length/color, different cuts route. I'm excited about it because there's definitely a continuity to the looks, BUT my two 'maids can choose dresses that flatter their very different figures, and my full figured pregnant MOH can get a dress that she can rock! Yay!
Plus this way my less financially well off BM can get her dress on sale and the other two can pay more for dresses that they like more, haha.
I think that with a bridal party that size they should all wear the same dress. I understand same color different styles for larger wedding parties because it's really hard to find something that flatters them all but with three you stand the chance that one will stick out a lot.
I think its ok if you give the color, material, designer then let them choose their style!?!?!? I think it would make them feel most comfortable. Here is great Google imaging page that shows you bm's in same color, same designer but different styles....
I have 4 BM's & I picked out dresses that I liked that were all the same fabric, color & length so they can pick whichever they feel most comfortable in. I like how it looks with different dress if they all match (color, length). i think 3 BM's with different dresses would look great.
We haven't picked out bridesmaid dresses officially yet, though I did find a dress for each person (4 in total) that I think would flatter their personal style. I'm not necesarily being picky with same fabric YET (though I'm sure when final selection comes closer I wil), though going for two color dresses. (Main color with accent of black).
I think it would be pretty impossible to find 4 dresses that would look good on everyone, as the sizes range frm 6 to 30, and even in between, the body type is totally different.
I'm not going for SUPER formal wedding, so I found nice dresses that I think would flatter the figures of everyone, and also reflect personality,
Anywho, I attached the four dresses, to show my thoughts of difference. (It may help to visualize in all one color too! :-) ).
I picked color, designer and fabric and the girls picked the style they liked best. Everyone loved their dress and looked good in them and felt comfortable. I think you should stick with your original plan!

I have 3 bridesmaids all wearing full length satin dresses from AA. I told them they could all pick their own. and now I worry that it may not look right. My MOH picked a dress with ruching....should they all where a dress with ruching? If 2 wore ruching and one didnt would it look odd? Should I maybe just let the MOH wear ruching? This is a formal wedding and I dont want a sloppy look and one has already ordered her dress that not all would look good in. PLease help. PLease post pics.
