We have looked at Secrets Maroma Beach and the Wydham Aura Cozumel. Secrets is like a Sandals but the beach there is fantastic and it gets great reviews. THe Aura in Cozumel is what we're leaning towards because we also wanted to avoid the Sandals type resort - it's a boutique all-inclusive with only 77 rooms and no buffets. Whatever you decide, make sure that you check prices on cheapcaribbean.com because for us, it was like getting the airfare free over what the hotel site would charge.
Dominican Republic! Our honeymoon was 9 days for $5500 at an all inclusive including flight. THey have TONS of all inclusives there, we stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana. Not like Sandals at all.
Belize!! If we had had the money to go to Belize, that was our number one choice! The flights were hard for us though, but I think getting there from Texas would be easier.
Ambergris Caye seems like an awesome place.

we really enjoyed the royal hideaway. www.royalhideaway.com It's an all inclusive, but REALLY small...so you aren't overwhelmed with people (i wasn't into the sandals type thing either. There were always two of the six restaurants open each night, and the food was AWESOME. And by awesome I mean 'we're snobby nyc people, and i would order and enjoy this at a regular restaurant in ny' kind of food. it was about 45 minutes from the cancun airport, making it an easy day of travel.

Help bees! We are behind schedule on booking a honeymoon and I am getting really stressed out. I want somewhere really luxurious, all inclusive would be nice but I would rather not stay at a Sandals-type property.
We were thinking St. Lucia, St. Martin, or Mexican Riviera. I just want to get something really nice for the money, and stress free, preferably with some kind of a villa/bungalow/private pool thing. We have a budget of about $5k.
Any suggestions would be wonderful!!
