Sun Jewelry is a wonderful custom jewelers/CAD designers. They have excellent reviews, and I’ve been eyeing them for years! LOL! I recently contacted them about making something and they were very swift in communicating…answering every question I had. I found their Yelp page here http://www.yelp.com/biz/sun-jewelry-los-angeles Their website is http://www.sunjewelry.com I’ve never been to their showroom, but I believe its in downtown LA. I can’t wait for them to do some custom work for me…hope it works out well for you! 🙂

@G_100free:  My FI custom designed my ring. He went to Jewelry Source which is a local family owned shop in El Segundo. They are AMAZING and so nice. Their customer service is great. Here is a pic of my ring they did from scratch, my FI had to approve the mold before they even made it:

Sorry for the giant pic, I can’t resize.

Oh how can I forget, DUH! David Klass! He’s in 607 Hill St. He’s very affordable and manages the crazy detail oriented ladies on the BTD forum. They’re always raving about him.

I work as the landlord (commerical real estate and property management) in a (actually, THE) jewelry building in the Jewelry District in Downtown LA. My fiance desgined my e-ring himself from one of my tenants but I can give the lowdown on most of the really great (and reasonable) jewelers in my building. PM me if you want me to give you some numbers to call.

Hope this helps!

Liberty Diamonds is great. They have two locations – one in LA and one in OC (Irvine). They have a ton of stones in-house (vs having to send out for them). Check out Yelp for reviews. They’re mostly known for the Irvine location but the same staff can meet you at the LA location.

@lilbluebird:  2nd Liberty, I picked my ring out from them and can’t wait to see it again (only got a glimpse) and still waiting for proposal. I really appreciate they sell well cut ideal stones too. If you’re in the market for actual bench made, I think they do some. Also over on Pricescope people LOVE Victor Canera’s (LA) handmade stuff.

@G_100free:  Sorry for the late post. I believe for the setting my FI designed without the center stone it was around 3-4K. My center stone is very slightly under 1 carat, but close to a perfect diamond (color and cut are 1 step below the top grading) and he paid around 9K in total, but it appraised for more.
