My brother is getting married in two weeks and I have had the hardest time deciding on a dress to wear. I am not in the wedding party but know I will be in a few family pictures.
A little about the ceremony: outdoors, 5 pm on a golf course, followed by a barn reception at the same venue. Invitation had no indication of dress code, but when I asked my brother about how formal it would be he said it was causal / relaxed.
I had purchased a gorgeous royal blue strapless cocktail dress, but decided it was too dressy, and found a great deal on a dress at Banana Republic today at the mall.
My iPad won’t let me upload a photo, so I’ll try and describe it. It is black, knee length, form fitting but not too tight, and has a halter neckline. The neck however, is definitey not low cut or anything, it is a “bib”halter where the fabric comes up pretty high and ties around the neck. I really wish I could add a picture.
Anyway, is this appropriate? I am concerned because it is black (is that okay for a Sept. outdoor wedding?) and bare shoulders/ back. I imagine there will probably be other guests with bare shoulders.
I was thinking I could dress it up or down depending on shoes / jewelry.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
ETA: I am in my mid twenties if that makes a difference. Also, I could / might ask my mother for advice but she Is clueless about fashion, etc. and never dresses to the occasion.
