Check out places that sell prom dresses. Alot of mall stores carry them. Otherwise, dept stores are her only option at this point. You may be surprised with what you find.
JCrew isn't the cheapest options, but they have some great dresses and I am sure they would have something in purple. Often you can get different styles in the same color. It isn't the same as dresses in different shades of purple, but your sister might like it.
I think you should definitely hit up a nordstrom or if her color scheme allows White House Black Market- they have TONS of cocktail dresses in the same color pallate (aka black and white)
I looked on Nordstroms just a little bit ago for dresses (for the heck of it) and they have a ton of gorgeous purple dresses! Try looking online at nordstroms.com, they have a bridal line too that you can order online and I think the shipping is the same as any other retail store (not like a bridal store which can take up to 3 months)
I cant view the thumbnails on my computer at work but I went to nordstroms dress shop and clicked to view only purple dresses - heres the link http://shop.nordstrom.com/SR/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6014164?mediumthumbnail=Y&mode=pfind&tuid=5ac8a3da-c3a2-4a79-9a40-46ccfcd02a6e&catID=6014164&color=Purple&searchorigin=ProductFinder&findertypereqd=N
i would recommend going to www.shopstyle.com , www.bluefly.com , or www.modcloth.com and searching by color. It will narrow down your choices considerably and make it easier to focus on exactly what your sis wants. When she says that she wants them to be in different shades of purple, does she mean that she wants all their dresses to be the exact same one, but just in different shades, or is she okay with completely different dreses? If it's the latter, I would recommend those three websites I mentioned. If it's the former...uh....I got nothing. Also, there's always good ol' j.crew!
Try Nordstrom, Dillards, and maybe J. Crew? I haven't ordered anything from J. Crew, so I don't know what the wait time is.
Thanks, I've been searching all of these!!
I think she would like some of the ones on Nordstrom's...but most of the floor length purple options are out of the size we need. I think I'm the biggest bridesmaid at size 4!
I'm still investigating!
Wow. Well, I think if you don't luck out in the next week your sister may have to loosen up the restrictions and go with black, perhaps with purple shawls and purple bouquets or purple shoes. Time is of the essence!
In the meantime, how many bridesmaids do you have? Is anyone crafty enough to sew them? I know it feels like I ALWAYS mention this, but this is what I'd do at this point!

I actually REALLY like the second one, if gold is a color she can go with. For $199 it's not too bad and they have plenty of sizes.
I'll keep looking though!

Check out this Ebay seller's store....new dresses, quick & cheap shipping, and many sizes. If you find one you like, search for all sizes available. I've ordered many from them and everything has been great! Good Luck!
Oooo this one's nice too! http://www.amazon.com/Beaded-Pleated-Satin-Bridesmaid-Formal/dp/B0032PZZ14/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1263305021&sr=8-20
I know Amazon's random but I"ve ordered plenty of stuff from them and never had an issue. You could order the dresses a size larger, then have them fitted down correctly
This is gorgeous, albeit $300 and maybe too lilac. But it comes in 0, 2, and 4.

With a purple sash the color she wants?
I'm tapping out of ideas =]
Honestly, she might just have to loosen up a little bit. We're having a super short engagement, but I'm flexible about pretty much everything!
LatteLove, your sister might want to order from The Dessy Group... here are their bridesmaid dresses sorted by color. They also have Pantone color matching in case she needs to find her particular shade.
Here are some stores in Chicago and San Diego that carry Dessy.. you may want to inquire with them about delivery schedules.

The short of this story is that my sister is getting married on March 13th. Being just recently engaged she picked out dresses only to find that no bridesmaid dress store in the world could guarentee delivery by the end of February to ensure alterations could be finished by her wedding date. This is the price to be paid for a very short engagement!
At this point I think her only option is to find something at a department store...but she is really unwilling to go with anything but her orginal color of purple (her original idea was to have each of 5 bridesmaid wear a separate shade of purple)
She is desperate (but won't let go of her dream bridesmaid dresses), and I feel bad, so I thought I would turn to the hive for help with my research.
Any ideas on purple (preferably a plum shade....but she'll consider anything) floor length dresses we could get in the next 6 weeks?
