I need your help figuring out what to wear for my engagement shoot this weekend… I literally have no idea. I took some pics with a few outfits I own, but seriously I don’t think anything is really good :/ Just to give you a bit of context, the session will be in Boston, photographer will be Once like a spark, it will happen probably around Public Gardens, maybe a bit near the Charles River and Newbury St. I need to choose 2 outfits, I’d like to have one “casual” and one “classy” outfit, the session will be around 1 hour to 1.5 hrs. Also, my hair will be the same for the shooting, I’m not getting it styled or anything.
So, what should I wear?? Is anything good in there or I should go shopping? Please tell me which accessories you like (ex: with or without sash/belt, shoes, stockings etc.) and for which setting (the park, downtown, near the water etc.) Thank you for helping me!!
(p.s. I think you can vote only one choice, but do vote the one style you like better and explain to me your choice + 2nd choices in the posts! thanks!!)
#4: (I don’t really consider it, but it’s the dress I wore when FI proposed… Although I think it would fit more in a fall shoot)

I chose none. If I had to choose, I would pick the 2nd version of your first casual outfit. I dont care for any of the dresses, sorry. I feel like the first 2 dresses show a lot of the chest area and I dont like the bottom two stretchy dresses. Do you have any other dresses? I’m sure you do in your closet : )

I like the white Dress and the casual look 3. I feel like you could find a top that would photograph better, you have a lovely shape you should show it off!!!

Also- white dress with brown belt and cowboy boots would be cute!!

I like the style of dress #2 but that’s a lot of chest area showing. I don’t like the looks with tights, it’s too hot for tights! Do you have a white cardigan you could wear with that dress?
I like your casual number 1 look with the belt! I think that’s super cute! I don’t really like any of the dresses…sorry.

I like casual number 3 the most but maybe add a pop of color with a cute necklace or earrings?

thesummerangel: I like casual style #1 with the belt, and dress #3 (I think all versions look cute, but if you don’t do the sash or the tights I would do a bold necklace, if you do the tights I might see how a bold pump looks).

Dress 3 with sash/belt
Casual 3 is close because it’s flattering your proportions, but I’m not sure how I like the tied shirt. The other shirts seem too long for your figure, so if you were to go shopping, I’d look for somethign that hits closer to your natural waist.

Casual #1 is cute – as long as it doesn’t make you look pregnant from the side. Couples photos are a LOT of shots with you facing each other, showing you from the side.
Dress #1 is cute! – but needs a iron. And what’s going on with the ties at your shoulders? Those would bug me in a photo. I agree with other PPs that it’s a lot of skin up top but would be cute with a cardigan.
Dress #3 is also cute. Definitely more formal for a different look. I like it with the satin belt. I’d also go with more a heeled shoe – like a pump. (I’d also recommend some spanx. Not that YOU need it, but the dress does. It’s that kind of fabric.)

gelaine22: Yah I feel like I don’t rly own nice clothes :/ I don’t care for clothes cause I work all day with a white coat on so wtv I wear you don’t see it xD you are right, most of the dresses show off too much chest area, and I’m too pale and got nothing to show there aha. yup I have thousands of dresses just nothing better sigh…
Futurecoacheswife: Thanks!! : ) Maybe I can find some nice top yah… I will def go shopping a bit more!
Cheeks225: it’s true it’s too hot for tights, but I do hate my legs 😡 they are way too white, unproportional and eczema-ridden : ( hmm nope I don’t own a white cardigan, I will look into that! thanks!!
NewYearsEve: thanks for the advice!! : )
lcowher: good idea!! I will look into jewelry too, I kinda skipped that xD thanks!
littlegraykitten: ohhh yes I see what you mean, some shoes that cut the black of the tights! the problem is I don’t own any high heels :s or I just won’t wear any tights… (but i hate my legs).
nadnuk: yah you are right, I just tend to wear long shirts cause most of my jeans/pants are too loose at the hips (I have thicker legs compared to my waist size), so I try to hide that aha… I guess I should wear belts more often…

Go with something simple and add a pop of color 🙂 All my photographer friends told me solid colors photograph best. I had panic moments trying to find something to wear… We ended up only getting two outfit changes because of rain. I did one outfit with a pop of red that was awesome, and the other was neutral.
I like the white dress… Its pretty for a garden!! 🙂 Then maybe just a simple top, and jeans. Add a pop of color with a necklace or the shoes.
Here is ours..
Hope it helps!! I had my Sister-In-Law help me pick stuff out. haha

Casual 1 with the belt, but I’d wear leggings instead of the jeans because they seem a little bulky. Does the top cover your butt in the back?
And dress 3 with the belt! Both are really cute!

LastGirlStanding: oh yah I’m worried about that “pregnant” look too xD the white dress, I have mixed feelings about it, because it is white… and you know the wedding pics will be all in a white dress anyways aha! and I’m kinda too pale. sigh. for the last dress, I must buy high heels I guess! gosh I hate those. and I never used spanx before, I will look into that… not totally sold though cause it might get hot under 2 layers (the dress is kinda thick already) thank you so much for your help!!!
jennifer_jean: wow such nice pictures!! I hope I’ll look as happy as you do!! : ) I think the jeans + nice shirt is a classic combination yah… I will go shopping for that! thank you!!

casual #3 is the best of the casual but you need something to punch it up some more. And I would wear a different shoe and prolly a different color tank. you need more contrast between the tank and pants.
I like how dress 3 fits, but the color washes you out.
I think you should buy all new stuff. Blue seems to be a nice color on you, so I would go that direction.
