They overplayed that song on my local radio stations, so I can't vote for 1.
2 sounds like a safe bet, and if it's meaningful to the both of you then go for it.
3. I've never actually read teh Little Lame Prince, so I can't say as that line makes sense, but I love personal quotes. They're like inside jokes and since you guys are probably the only ones who are going to see them it doesn't matter if it makes sense to anyone else. I also like how you guys say it often. So I vote for 3.
The Little Prince quote is part of a larger quote. It is a dialogue between a child prince and a fox. The fox is explaining that if they get to know each other then the fox will become tamed and it will change their lives forever. The fox says,
"But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. If you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed."
I was thinking that if I picked the first line of this quote for the ring inscription, then I could also engrave the full quote on a silver box and present him with the ring in the box.
I like either 2 or 3. Is 3 too long to be inscribed in a ring? If so, perhaps you can inscribe the first part in his ring, and the last in yours.
I like jess' suggestion....talk with your engraver about what can work. Oh, and the idea about the full quote on a silver box....awesome!
We had so many lovely quotes picked out only to learn we could only inscribe 18 characters on either ring. That includes spaces & punctutation.
Throughout the day we often text eachother and "love u more" worked it's way into our texting... that and our wedding date fit in both rings perfectly.

#3. Love the idea of splitting the quote between the two rings and having the entire quote on a jewelry box :)
I think it's mo special because it's an inside things between you guys as a couple :)
I'm going with number one - I think they others agood, maybe a bit long tho. And Number one sums it all up
I vote for number 3! I'm a bit religious too, so I was going for number 2 until I read the rest of the quote from the Little Prince. I got the goosebumps!
three! it's personal, and i'd always go for that. right now, my fiance and i are tempted to engrave "mine, mine, mine" in our rings - as in finding nemo. it's something we quote to each other a lot, just to be funny/annoying, we love the movie, and it's a somewhat unique interpretation of the verse "i am my beloved and he is mine" - we're religious too. :)
I love the idea of having a super long inscription on the two rings and then having the full inscription on a jewelry box. So cute!
I love #3--its so sweet and personal. I also like the idea to split the quote between the two rings. To put "But if you tame me, then we shall need each other" may be too much for a small ring...if they manage to get the inscription in, the wording may be too tiny or squashed together to read easily. Splitting it between two rings would also be meaningful, as it would only make sense when the two rings are together and not when they're apart.
I was going to vote 1, but then I read the full quote for 3 - it's so.. deep and heartfelt! :)
#3!!! Oh how I love that it's personal and the entire verse can be used as an analogy to love.
My vote is #3 (and not just because I love Le Petit Prince).

Which was EXACTLY what I was going to ask? How romantic... Best, LORETTA*
Thanks everyone for all your help! I did choose to go with #3, the quote from the little Prince. As some predicted, it was too long to fit. I shortened it to "then we shall need each other" and will put the full text on the box. I could have fit a little bit more if I had opted to have it hand engraved, but that is very expensive. It should be done in a few days, I'm really excited!
Awesome...maybe you can post a pic when you get it back?

I need to decide asap on the inscription for my fiance's ring, and I'm having so much trouble choosing one! Here are my top 3 choices:
1) Truly, madly, deeply
2) In God and Thee my joy shall be
3) But if you tame me, then we shall need each other
The first one is romantic and says how I feel about him. We are both religious and believe that marriage is a sacrament, so the religious one is meaningful too. The last one is a quote from The Little Prince and is something we say often to each other, so it's quite personal. I can't decide - romantic, religious, or personal? Which inscription do you like best? Help me choose!
