I assume you are having more of a rustic feel to the wedding?

I would add burlap runners, place simple fresh flowers in mason jars tied with raffia and ribbon of a coordinating color (red?)  Add red petals to the burlap runner and a couple of votives you can buy at a discount store (plain white candles in clear votives would do, but be sure they burn for at least 3 hours) and add beige and red ribbon to the base of the votive or glue lace ribbon with hot glue.

You can place a nice menu card with a cute flower (real or silky) or wedding bubbles or some other whimsical favor.  You can do a search for Ann’s Wedding Bargains and Oriental Trading – do a search for wedding favors which are pretty cheap.

Good luck!

@Dela2012:  I love it!  We used the same flowers for our wedding!  🙂  Would you have a candle in the lantern?  Just be careful if you’re putting a candle in it and it’s somehow doubling as a table number holder so it doesn’t catch on fire…lol

I like how it looks.  Simple and cute.

@Dela2012:  Yeah definitely check that out to make sure the whole lantern doesn’t get too hot!  Smile  I love the idea though…I think it’s cute!  I hate when you go to a wedding and there’s so much junk on the tables that you don’t have any room to even put a drink down.  Then the waiter hands the table a basket of bread and it’s like…ok great, and do I put this on my lap…?

To avoid the threat of fire you could always use the battery operated tealights that flicker like a real candle.  =)
