Welcome to Weddingbee, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
Girl, it is MORE than okay to use fake flowers in your centerpieces. I've seen some seriously beautiful flowers at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, so I know you could make something outstanding.
If it helps, there are even tons of brides on Weddingbee who have used fake flowers in their bouquets. When they've posted photos of their bouquets, I honestly would have never guessed that the flowers weren't real.
I'd never look down on anyone for using fake flowers, and I can't see why anyone would.
In terms of the table and chair covers, all of that was included at our venue, so I can't help there, but I'm sure someone here can!
Another Kansas girl!!
Fake flowers are completely fine! I honestly think real flowers are a waste. Hobby lobby has beautiful flowers.
As far as overlays and chair covers.. you can usually find really good deals on the classified from other bees. My fiance and I are paying for ours.. I bought our runners and table covers off here for an exellent price. Just keep your eyes open.
It is totally acceptable to use fake flowers! A lot of people do that now since it is extremely cheaper!
Also, find vendors in your area that will let you rent chair covers and table cloths. I found this cheaper than buying them in my area. Or I have also found a couple sites that sell cheap linens: www.tableclothsfactory.com or www.wedding-linens.com
If you buy them you can sell them after your wedding and make some money back! :)
I used to frown upon fake flowers and it is actually bad luck in our culture (I'm Chinese btw), but I'm having a desintation in Bali and they don't have peony there, since I love peony and have to have them, I bought fake. I think it looks better than the real peonies.

Nothing wrong with fake flowers! I am making a ton of paper flower to decorate around my wedding. I am also using real flowers, and to keep from blowing my budget I shopped around. My flowers are being done by Whole Foods I am not sure if you have one in your area. I am filling 20 quart size mason jars, and 16 half gallon size mason jars, and my bouquet at a price of $700. They only charge the price of flowers and not labor. If you really want flowers you can try them or talk with your local grocery flower department. My florist is so helpful we email back and forth and I show her pictures of what I want and she makes suggestions as well. You wouldn't think it was a grocery florist. Hope that helps!!
Thanks for your comments, makes me feel so much better knowing fake's arn't looked down upon!!

Hey! I am planning my October wedding and need some advice. My fiance and I are paying for our wedding our selves and don't have a big budget. So, two questions....
Is using fake flowers for centerpieces acceptable or do people look down on it? I have found some really pretty ones at our Hobby Lobby that look amazing but I wasn't sure if it's worth it to just spend the money on real ones or if it's fine to use fake.
Also, does anyone know where to find/buy cheap table overlays and chair covers? I will need about 150 chair covers and about 30-35 table over lays. I know they aren't necessary but if I can find them for a good price I am willing to use them.
Thank you!
