Why can't you use those things? I think it would be perfectly OK to use acorns, leaves, and pine cones. Just like greenery is used in floral arrangements even if green is not an official wedding color, I think the natural elements that you mentioned will go just fine. Maybe wrap a purple ribbon around the base of the vase to bring in your wedding color. Or tie in the wedding color using your linens (tablecloth or runner)
How about dark berries and a pillar candle OR a pillar candle with ribbon?

I definitely agree with JamaicaBride--with using the "natural elements" anyway. I really like her suggestions.
It sounds like our centerpiece ideas were similar. My wedding earlier his week was also purple and silver. We did glass Christmas balls and pine cones in vases. We did spray paint the pine cones silver on the tips though, which was a nice contrast against the cones' darker interiors. We set them on purple cloth napkins (eggplant, excuse me) I ordered online for maybe $15 total. We had a few (5 or 6) smaller vases around them with small rocks and floating candles. I wish I could dig up a picture, but I don't have access to one right now. I'll try to get one up later if it would be helpful to you.
all great idea thanks.
yes silver sprayed or glittered pine cones were a thought to lay around the vase or add into the mix of xmas balls...
jldown2 > a pic would be great if u find one!
Anyone w/pics would be very helpful! I am also doing eggplant purple & silver, and I need non-floral decor ideas!
I did non-floral centerpieces. I actually rented different types of hurricane type vases with white candles and had my florist tie ribbons around them to coordinate with my wedding colors. I think that I got them done for around $10 a piece. Here is a pic of one:

I want to create a non-floral centerpiece using a cylinder glass vase approx 12-15 inches tall. My wedding is in October but can't really use the traditional leaves, acorns, pine cones, etc....because my colors are dark purple and silver!...
This is where I need your help! I tried to stack different sized christmas balls to test the idea out...but it looks boring/plain!
ANYYYY IDDEEAASSS???? Please!
i attached a picture of my "idea" with xmas balls i had around the house (so ignore the colors!)
