We were told that they needed to be ordered by Jan 31 for our july wedding. So about 6 months out (depending on the designer!) Since David's is pretty well stocked, (I'd ask them first), but chances are they can order the dress in the right size around when she has the baby?
DB told me it takes 12 weeks for BM dresses to come in on order. We are going in next weekend to get them in time for alterations, if needed, in time for October. It seems like you could wait until Sept/Oct to order, but don't know what to recommend for measuring your SIL...
I will definitely pop into David's as soon as I am back in Iowa. I just don't want her to get measured now and then feel pressured to fit back into her pre-baby size within four months. Since this is her first child, we have no idea how fast she will lose the baby weight and I want her to be able to concentrate on being happy with my niece or nephew and with my enjoying the wedding stuff without feeling stressed and pressured to fit into something that might no longer fit. We are all so excited because this is my first niece or nephew! I just would hate to also wait and then not be able to get the dress. There seems to be a fine line here, just not sure where that line is, hahaha.
@SoonToBeeMrsD: Exactly :) That's why I couldn't quite figure out when she should be measured. How exciting for your family...you're going to be an aunty!
DB ALWAYSSSS says it takes about 12-18 weeks to come in but in reality, they'll be calling you up within 2 weeks to let you know your dress(es) is ready! My wedding gown was in, in 4 days and all my bm's got their dresses with 5-6 days! Just so you are aware though, she may not fit into a dress like this with a baby belly. When I was pregnant with my son, my belly was very high and something like this would never fit me. You may want to consider a maternity friendly dress for her! DB can help you with everything, although I live in NY, I'm not sure how different they all are.
Good luck with this, and PS... I would have her measured and get the dress ordered in about 2-4 sizes TOO large so it can be taken in IF NECESSARY or left alone if she is comfy :) If she's a size 2, she should order a size 6 and so on...

I am getting my bridesmaid dressed from David's Bridal. My MOH and one of my BM's went to try on a bunch and we all decided on these:
They are super flattering on all of the girls and I love the color! Now here is my question: My SIL is pregnant with her and my brother's first child. The baby is due in November and we are getting married four months later in March. We aren't sure when to order her dress. Do we get her measured now before she starts putting on baby weight (she is only about 8 weeks along), or do we wait until after the baby is born and possibly run out of time? Any other brides have this problem or have dealt with this problem? Suggestions?
