i got off the pill at the end of dec 2010. now, 8 months later i still don’t have a normal period. i can tell that something is going on as i do get some spottings every months. actually pretty regular. it happens always after 29 days. but i don’t have a regular period!!! as i said, just some drops and it stops again after 1.5 to 2 days max! i’m confused and worried!
anybody else experiences the same after going off the pill? do I even ovulate if my period is not normal?
we are now TCC. so ‘m worried, that my body is still confused from all the hormones…
any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you should go see your doctor and have your hormone levels checked. That’s what I did/ am doing. I think when problems last more than a couple months after stopping BC, it might have been that the BC was masking a hormonal imbalance you had all along. That is what I am dealing with (I’ve been off for 11 months, but have reaaally long cycles).

Well, I guess it could be a number of things, the least of which I think it takes up to a year to balance everything out so I don’t have much advice in that arena but…. I went to the gyne for the same reason and he didn’t seem too concerned. I had the nuva ring which I think takes longer to re-balance on and I don’t think I ever had a normal cycle before starting BC. My doc informed me that when it comes time to conceive- hormone rebalance is one of the easier tasks- and if thats what it took it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
That said, after I stopped stressing about that and other things, started excercising and eating right, my period became normal. Whether it was the much-needed lifestyle changes or simply time- I’m not sure. Chin up!

thank you ladies!
i didn’t bother me for the first 6 months. i went intentionally off the pill before TCC to give my body enough time to adjust. but now 8 monhts later, and into the second months of TCC i’m starting to stressing out about it.
i already have quite a healthy lifestyle. i watch my diet, I exercise, very little alcohol, no smocking… not much extra weight. maybe 3-4 pounds.
*grrrr* guess i have to see my doctor. i hate this!!!

Do you remember what your period was like before you went on the pill? A lot of people go on the pill because their periods are irregular so your body might be doing this naturally. Plus not everyone has a really heavy flow, each person is different.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: actually i don’t remember all the details. i was on the pill for 12 years… but i remember that AF lasted around 4 days and it was a normal flow. now there are only a few drops over the course of max 2 days. i would more call it spotting than AF.
you think, because my body is still doing something on a very regular basis, that this could be my normal AF? that would be a super-duper-mini-AF and not even worth be bothered about… 😉

Go to a healthy vitamin section and look for “Vitex- Chaste Berry”. I took it after going off of BC and it helped regulate my period. I went for 3 months without a period and after taking it – I am back to normal! 🙂 good luck!
