    Hello ladies!

This is my first post on weddingbee and i am excited! I just ordered my dress from Lazaro and love it even though my mom claimed it was too simple..(she loves embroidery much more than i do) She made the suggestion of removing the flower and changing  it for a brooch. I wanted to get a second opinion? Also does any one have any links for good places to buy brooches?

Here is a link to my dress

Beautiful dress! I personally think a brooch would look a little off, the flower just looks so perfect. But if it'd make YOU happy, go for it! Can't help much with finding one, sorry. But I love the dress!

    Oh, and welcome!

I honestly think this dress looks better with a flower than it would with a brooch. It has romantic flowy feel and I think looks great as is.

dianalb83-  Congrats on your engagement and welcome to weddingbee!  I really like the flower, but a brooch is an intersting idea.  It would need to be a nice big one.  Have you tried lookin gon Etsy?  I know my mom has found some lovely ones on Ebay and at Estate sales.  I guess it just depends on the style you are going for.  Keep us updated on your hunt! (and post pics)

Thank you! I love the flower yet i would like to add some sparkle to the gown. Maybe i should think about doing that with my jewelry instead, also i think some bling would make my mom happy but i dont want to distort the gown.

I think the flower is fabulous! It really plays up the femininity of the ruffles. I bet it would look awesome with a colore flower too.

I really like the idea of having some big bling jewelry!  You could get a goregous sparkely necklace to go with your gown, which by the way is fabulous!

Maybe you could get a brooch to pin in the center of the flower.  Surely there will be something perfect on Etsy.  Bel Canto and Naoki come to mind right away, but there are plenty of others out there!

I love your dress and wanted to welcome you to Weddingbee!  Congratulations!

I like doctorgirl's suggestion of a sparkly brooch or pin in the middle of the flower and then do a dramatic necklace/earring for some bling/pop for your jewelry.

I think the brooch inside the flower could be just the thing.  I would be afraid that trying to swap the flower for a brooch may take away something from the dress, but I think adding the brooch to the flower could look very nice.  Beautiful dress by the way!

I agree that the flower works perfectly with the flowing nature of the dress. I think a brooch there would be too stark.

Some pretty, simple jewelry should appease your mom's need for sparkle, right? :)

I like the flower! And I agree with hoodjeam to dress it up with jewelry - necklace and earrings.

I don't think your dress is too simple at all. Having a plain bodice draws attention to that gorgeous skirt/ruffles! Having beading on top of all that may be too much. =)

And if you love it, that's all that really matters. Maybe your mom will have a change of opinion once she sees it all pulled together!

First off, welcome to the hive!  Secondly, that dress is WOWZA!  What it lacks in embroidery, it makes up for with that beautiful skirt!  I like the brooch idea, but instead of messing with that flower, what if you could add a small brooch inside of the flower?  Then, add a little bit of sparkley jewelry and you'll be set!

I love the dress!  Could you add some hair accessories?  maybe a birdcage veil with a dramatic hair piece?  I wouldn't touch the dress...it's totally stunning!

i really like the dress the way that it is. i think a brooch would look too harsh on a dress that is that flowy.

Your dress is AMAZING.  I wouldn't change a thing!  You can definitely dress it up with jewelry or something blingy in your hair.  But I really love how the flower mirrors the ruffles on the skirt.

gorgeous gown! i am not sure if someone already suggested it, but how about pinning a circular brooch to the center of the flower? I did this to a satin flower on a plain black satin clutch I have and it compeltely transformed the look and made it "blingy" without being too over the top. I always find lovely brooches at nordstrom and I dunno when your wedding is, but they always have great after-holiday sales. Good luck!!!

    DinalB-

Thank you!  I absolutely love your dress too.  Clearly we both have great taste!  I am not sure about acessories yet but definitely no necklace - I like how my collarbone looks left alone  - I am thinking earrings, and a bracelet.  What are your thoughts?  I also still need to pick out shoes.

I definitely think you should go without the broach on yours - I think it might be too much.  The gown has alot of "accessories" with the layers and flowers. But I always lean towards simple and less accessories so that is only my opinion!

Your dress is beautiful! And I think the flower looks gorgous; I wouldn't change it for a brooch. I think that the brooch would be fine and it would still be pretty, but the flower is plain and simple...and that's what I like. But if you want to go with the brooch, then do it! It's your day, girl, you get to pick :)

If you do go with a brooch, make sure you send us some pictures! I wanna see it :)
