We lined up my parent’s pastor to officiate our wedding back in late December. He is not the main pastor of the church, but more the social pastor in charge of weddings, counseling etc. We had mostly been dealing with his secretary about dates and time for pre-marital counseling and had a hard time getting the pastor himself to respond. A few weeks ago my parents took us in to meet him. He is an old friends of theirs from high school so it was more of a social visit. He told us how bad he is at email but he would help make special arrangements for us to come and meet him as we are 2 hours away and can’t make the regularly schedule group sessions. He took down our information and promised to be more diligent and that we were on his calendar so not to worry, Well folks about two weeks ago he dropped a bomb. He wrote us an email saying he “forgot” he had another wedding that day and that he didn’t know if he could do both. The other couple didn’t know what time they are getting married yet and he would let us know if he could still do our wedding. Let us know?!?!?! They didn’t know what time it was going to be?!?!?! Our wedding is 45 days away!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now we are on a mad dash to find someone. My parents have met with the more rent an offciant type who can also provide us with a DJ and day of coordination. This is just not our ideal. We are so frustrated/dissappointed and deperate! Does anybody know someone in the Sacramento area????

Wow what a bummer girl.. Im from Sac but I really dont know anyone that could help you out. I dont even know how the whole pastor thing work if you are from a different church. I was thinking maybe you should look into Capital Christian Church or Bay Side Church.. those are two huge churches and im pretty sure they have more than one pastor.. also Trinity Church might help you.
By the way.. which church do you attend.. maybe its even one of them..

well thats a load of patootie.
since hes not the main pastor but the social pastor is there a possibility that the head pastor can do the wedding? since he double booked he should find you a suitable replacement – being a preacher’s daughter i know theres a whole network of pastors out there and for instance if this happened to my father, he would have 3798498237 suggestions of ministers that could step in since it was his SNAFU.

That is horrible..I am sorry you are going through this. I would try to see if the pastor knows anyone like spaganya has said. Maybe he can at least point you in the direction of someone who would be available.

Yay! We found someone! The pastor wasn’t helpful AT ALL with finding someone else. As a matter fo fact he never actually got back to us saying he was 100% sure if our weddings were at the same time. His initial EMAIL (not even a phone call) said he realized he double booked but the other couple wasn’t sure what time their wedding was yet….um 40 something days out and you don’t know???? So he would let us know was happy to do both if he could then…silence. I guess you just expect better from people, especially a pastor. Not a huge fan ofhis actions, or non chalant attitude toward us. We basically had to call the church and complain that the pastor we had secured in November had emailed saying he was canceling because he double booked. I think he isn’t very pleased with us because we kind of threw him under the bus, but we where stuck! It was all very suspicious. However, they found us someone else! Phew! Wedding back on ( ok yes I fully aknowledge that I am probably over dramatic) but sometimes it feels like that! YAY!
